We’re proud to have led the Proteus project, part of the UK Government’s FRANC initiative, which aimed to drive innovation and diversification in the 5G supply chain. Our work under DSIT's Open Networks Programme focused on developing hardware-agnostic Open RAN solutions, strengthening the UK's position in the global 5G landscape and advancing Open RAN technology. The Proteus project was all about innovation. We created an Open RAN architecture that works independently of specific hardware, enabling us to build high-performance applications that aren’t tied to any one CPU type. #HardwareAgnostic #5GInnovation #OpenRAN #TelcoInnovation
🌐 Proteus: FRANC Case Study 🌐 In the latest in our FRANC case study series, we explore the Proteus project. FRANC was the first intervention DSIT announced from the Open Networks Programme in 2021. A total of 14 projects were funded to support the goals of the Government’s 5G Supply Chain Diversification Strategy by helping to incentivise the industry to create new products and services to unlock the full potential of Open RAN. These projects have enabled a wide range of organisations to focus on developing technical solutions such as: ✅ Radio transmitters ✅ Signal processing equipment ✅ Power management systems ✅ Software to support open interface architectures Read on to find out more ⬇ https://lnkd.in/esMFSD7d #5G #Telecoms #Innovation Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Parallel Wireless, BT Group, University of Bristol, Real Wireless, Wireless Excellence.
