We’re proud to have led the Proteus project, part of the UK Government’s FRANC initiative, which aimed to drive innovation and diversification in the 5G supply chain. Our work under DSIT's Open Networks Programme focused on developing hardware-agnostic Open RAN solutions, strengthening the UK's position in the global 5G landscape and advancing Open RAN technology. The Proteus project was all about innovation. We created an Open RAN architecture that works independently of specific hardware, enabling us to build high-performance applications that aren’t tied to any one CPU type. #HardwareAgnostic #5GInnovation #OpenRAN #TelcoInnovation

We are thrilled to be recognized in UKTIN's release of the Semiconductors Expert Working Group’s Future Capability Paper! The report explores how the UK can advance research, development, and innovation in the semiconductor industry towards 2030 and beyond. As the head of our UK R&D Center, Nicolas Scheidecker, contributed to this report by providing recommendations to the UK government on priorities for semiconductors in telecoms, influencing the strategy towards 2030, and sharing expertise as an Open RAN vendor. Key insights from the paper include: ➡️ The semiconductor industry is the 4th largest globally, generating over $500 billion in revenue in 2021. ➡️ The semiconductor and electronics sector is a crucial enabler of the UK economy. ➡️ The UK's significant strengths in semiconductors, particularly in telecoms. ➡️ The UK's expertise in digital design, including processor and semiconductor system design.

Few technological breakthroughs make such perfect sense as the Zero Touch Provisioning for RAN equipment in mobile networks. Networks continue to extend and expand to address the insatiable demand for mobile connectivity. To accommodate, additional computing is required at the edge, so large amounts of equipment are getting pushed out to ever-distant locations.
