Last week our Project SEARCH Delnor staff ventured down the street to our local high school's adult services fair! They were honored to be included in such a great event that helps families and students explore all of their post graduation options in order to find the perfect fit. Our staff enjoyed getting to connect with potential future clients and sharing information on Project SEARCH Delnor.

Devoted to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities through individualized employment services.
About us
Parents Alliance Employment Project has existed since 1982. It is unique in that it was parent initiated and operated for many years staffed solely by parent volunteers. This network of parents became proactive when the only employment option for their developmentally disabled young adults was a sheltered workshop. They fought for mainstreaming their children in the public school system and community integration. PAEP has been emphasizing integrated work with supports into businesses long before the national trend! Services provided by PAEP are based on the philosophy that all individuals have the right to work in the communities in which they live. PAEP provides a variety of programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities including career counseling, job training and preparation, job development, job placement, and job coaching and follow-up. Each of the unique services assists individuals with disabilities develop secure career plans, enter into and retain community employment

Thank you to Nicole Tochalauski from the People's Resource Center for meeting interns at Project SEARCH at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital this week! Nicole provided a great presentation on conflict management in the workplace. Project SEARCH CDH interns learned approaches to managing conflict, the 5 types of conflict, and skills to manage conflict. Interns worked together to problem-solve scenarios, including information conflict, relationship conflict, value conflict, structural conflict, and interest conflict. We are grateful to learn these important lessons as interns prepare for the workforce!

Thank you Kyle Latus, MBA and Marmic Fire & Safety Co. for your continued support and for joining us last night at our Be Inspired to Hire event!
Last night was yet another fantastic example of Marmic Fire & Safety Co. colleagues coming together to support both each other, and a great cause. I am grateful for the group from the Woodridge Total Fire and Safety branch that continued their tradition of attending the annual Parents Alliance Employment Project "Be Inspired to Hire" event. Thank you for continuing to show your solidarity for your colleague who joined us by way of PAEP, and more generally for continuing to support an organization that I am immensely proud to be a part of. Thank you again for coming out, and remember to "Be Inspired to Hire" individuals with disabilities.

Thank you Greg Bedalov and Choose DuPage for joining us last night and celebrating our Be Inspired to Hire event!
One of the best things about my job is being able to connect with people. If you know me, you know that I enjoy going to events, meeting new people, and learning about the amazing work being done in DuPage County across a myriad of companies, organizations, and individuals. And while I often leave these meetings and events feeling inspired or motivated, nothing quite gives me the feels like Parents Alliance Employment Project’s annual Be Inspired to Hire event. As we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month, I urge you to take some time to learn about the work Parents Alliance does helping people with disabilities find competitive employment. Each year, they support over 200 individuals in finding employment, and in turn, employers in DuPage and beyond are gaining qualified, loyal, employees while increasing the diversity of their workforce. Thank you, Parents Alliance, for once again reminding me how lucky I am to live and work in a community that supports people of all abilities. And thank you to my friends and colleagues who joined me for a great evening! Rita Haake, Paula Deacon Garcia, Greg Schwarze, Kari Galassi, Teresa O'Brien
