Good job to our Project SEARCH interns at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital after completing their first round internship ease-in week! Ease-In Week is dedicated to providing individualized training to ease the interns into their new internships. Interns start to learn their core responsibilities, meet coworkers, and learn to navigate around their departments. We are so thankful to have the help of our mentors in each internship to share their expertise. Huge shout out to our PAEP staff for ensuring that the PS CDH interns received adequate support this week!

About us
Parents Alliance Employment Project has existed since 1982. It is unique in that it was parent initiated and operated for many years staffed solely by parent volunteers. This network of parents became proactive when the only employment option for their developmentally disabled young adults was a sheltered workshop. They fought for mainstreaming their children in the public school system and community integration. PAEP has been emphasizing integrated work with supports into businesses long before the national trend! Services provided by PAEP are based on the philosophy that all individuals have the right to work in the communities in which they live. PAEP provides a variety of programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities including career counseling, job training and preparation, job development, job placement, and job coaching and follow-up. Each of the unique services assists individuals with disabilities develop secure career plans, enter into and retain community employment

Dressed for success at Project SEARCH Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital! Project SEARCH Interns participated in interviews this week at CDH. Interns applied for their first-round internship and met with department managers for interviews. We prepared for our interviews by discussing professional interview attire, body language, eye contact, and handshakes, and practiced mock interviews! Interns will begin to "Ease In" to their new internships next week, followed by the first full day of their internship on September 9th!

Our Project SEARCH program at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital started this week! Our program is so excited to have 12 interns this year! This week the interns started to meet their peers and get to know Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital and staff. The interns will soon be interviewing for our first round of internships within the different departments. Wish them luck!

Happy First Day of Inspired by Ability! Yesterday the students got to meet all their peers in class. The student participated in many different Get to Know You activities including Bingo, The Question Game, and Show and Tell. The students all were asked to bring in a photo that motivated them and were able to share this with the class. The photos will be displayed in the classroom for everyone to see. The students reviewed classroom and building rules and expectations and were able to get a tour of the entire building. Yesterday was a successful first day of class!
