About us

Pepper is a social community empowering chefs of all backgrounds and skillsets to create, discover, and share recipes from around the world. From the experienced chef who has spent years refining their craft down to the last tablespoon, to the college student who cooked an omelette and can’t remember what they put in it, every chef deserves an audience. And Pepper provides the stage to have just that. Food enthusiasts have long been deprived of their own social networking platform. Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat all fail at providing the necessary tools for foodies to adequately engage, share, and learn from one another. The days of links in bios and unsearchable ingredients lists are over. Pepper is the premier platform catered specifically to the everyday chef; Pepper is the platform that every chef deserves.

🎉 New Update 🎉 Introducing Custom Cookbooks - the greatest change to Cookbooks in almost 4,000 years. More below!

The first known Cookbook, known as The Yale Culinary Tablets, was published in 1700 BC in Mesopotamia. Since then, they've barely changed... until now 👇 In December, we unveiled Cookbooks by Pepper, finally bringing the antiquated realm of paper cookbooks into the 21st century. With Cookbooks, every user automatically builds their personal Cookbook with each new dish they post, neatly categorized by course. But that's not it. Not every Cookbook is categorized by course. What if I want to make a Cookbook by cuisine? Or another one highlighting only salads? Introducing... custom Cookbooks! Pepper+ members can now INSTANTLY create a Cookbook out of anything! Italian recipes? Done. Vegetarian recipes? Done. Every recipe tagged "gains szn"? DONE. Our new Cookbook dashboard allows you to instantly create, edit, and grow Cookbooks with a single click! How will you build your Cookbook? #cookbook #recipes #build #product #design #release #ship #socialmedia #founder #consumersocial #community #cooking

Next Victim: Matthew Schkolnick Welcome back to BreakFast and Move Things where I force founders and VC's to do an all out 100m sprint on a ski erg and then pitch Matt the cofounder of Pepper, my favorite cooking app (it's like Strava for chefs), showed up with maximum confidence and no experience and found a way to get it done. He's one of my favorite Tech Breakfast Club members - come hang with us for Breakfast on the 21st if you're a founder building something cool. Tech Breakfast Club Rankings: 1st Place Will Stringer @ 19.4 seconds 2nd Place Tucker F. Cohen @ 19.9 seconds 3rd Place Matthew Schkolnick @ 20.3 seconds Can someone kick Will out of 1st place? NEXT LEVEL TASTESCAPE IN THE BOOKS ✅ . Who's ready for the next one?!

View profile for Matthew Schkolnick, graphic

COO, Co-Founder / Sous Chef at Pepper 🌶

Over three years ago, Jake Aronskind and I started Pepper to create a vibrant community of home cooks, bring people together over a love for food, and improve the cooking experience that we felt was ripe for innovation. Not in my wildest dreams could I have imagined where this journey would take us...👇 This past Thursday we hosted 250 people - members of the Pepper community, top cooking content creators/chefs (with a combined social audience of 15+ million), and amazing food & drink brands at Next Level Tastescape, the second iteration of our elevated block party series. Pepper sits at the intersection of cooking, community, and technology. We inspire cooks across the world to document & share recipes while exploring new flavors & techniques. We empower creators to share their love of cooking with their fans through engaging content. And we enable brands to authentically connect with their audiences. Events like Tastescape are the physical manifestation of this special digital community we've built. There's something magical about a community that first connected online, now gathering in real life. The event was a feast for the senses, full of mouthwatering dishes from the chefs and beautiful conversations. But the true highlight was the people. Watching connections form before my eyes between creators, brands, and guests was so heartwarming. Getting to meet creators and members of the community I’d known for years was beyond memorable. I'm so grateful that my job allows me to facilitate such meaningful interactions. Building community has always been a passion of mine, both digital and IRL. Bringing people together through the universal language of food is a privilege that I don’t take for granted. Younger me would be proud of the person I've become and work I've decided to focus on. A HUGE thank you to our amazing partners on the event, HexClad Cookware, Morton Williams - The Fresh Marketplace, Maxwell Social, Corazon Tequila, Taste of Truffles, and of course the village of people (Kayla Menkes, MBA, Jake Wisotsky, Lukas Mahler + so many others) it took to pull this off. I'm already looking forward to the next Tastescape and all that's to come with Pepper in 2024! If you’re a food & drink brand wanting to get involved or learn more about Pepper, shoot me a message. I’d love to chat. Pepper On 🌶
