“I’ve had previous experience where you have to go out, take the sling psychrometer, swing it around, compare it to the chart, and then tell the coaches the bad news.” ⬆️ That’s a quote from John Carpenter, Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer at the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI). We’re not sure how to say this, but if you have to swing something around in the air and then look at a piece of paper to determine the wet bulb globe temperature, you’re probably not getting a very accurate reading. John thought so too, which is why he made the switch. Thanks to Perry Weather, John can now automate the hassle of taking manual measurements with an on-site weather station that takes WBGT readings every 15 minutes. Additionally, with historical data always being saved in the Perry Weather dashboard, John can review previous daily measurements to prepare not just for tomorrow’s practice, but for next week’s or even the coming months. After using Perry Weather, John had this to say ⬇️: “Perry Weather for us has been a godsend. I have accurate weather data wherever I go, which is very nice, and it makes my job that much easier and that much safer for myself and my athletes.” We like this quote a lot better. Check out the rest of the customer story on the Perry Weather website to see why John and the NMMI faculty won’t ever be going back to taking WBGT measurements manually. Have you ever tried predicting when the stock market will crash? What about the outcome of a football game? Or when your neighbor’s dog will stop barking? 🤔   How many times were you right? The truth is, prediction will always involve some guesswork. So why would you leave lightning, a weather element equally as random, up to prediction? Here are a few things to consider before purchasing a lightning prediction system for your organization. ⬇️
