This week, Perry Weather joined the Korey Stringer Institute and the National Athletic Trainers' Association Trainers Association in Washington, D.C., uniting key voices on heat safety standards to tackle the critical issues surrounding extreme heat in the workplace. Together, we engaged with members in sharing their unique perspectives and findings, as well as having the invaluable opportunity to learn from industry experts like Dr. Andrew Grundstein and Dr. Douglas Casa, who shared powerful insights on safeguarding productivity, health, and safety during high heat events. Perry Weather is honored to sponsor and support these impactful conversations, which are paving the way for updated policies and solutions. We remain committed to shaping a future where every U.S. worker can face high-heat days with confidence and protection.

The Perry Weather team took a trip to the Texas State Fair! Here’s what it taught us about the current Texas climate: ⬇️ Nothing, it's just really hot here. But at least we ate some good food! 😋 (Shoutout Jackson Farr for another great t-shirt design too!)

Why do businesses such as: • National Football League (NFL) 🏈 • The University of Texas at Austin 🏫 • City of Arlington 🏙️ • Holder Construction 🏗️ Use detection instead of prediction for their lightning monitoring needs? Watch this clip from our Lightning Detection vs. Lightning Prediction blog post to find out why. ⬇️

“I’ve had previous experience where you have to go out, take the sling psychrometer, swing it around, compare it to the chart, and then tell the coaches the bad news.” ⬆️ That’s a quote from John Carpenter, Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer at the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI). We’re not sure how to say this, but if you have to swing something around in the air and then look at a piece of paper to determine the wet bulb globe temperature, you’re probably not getting a very accurate reading. John thought so too, which is why he made the switch. Thanks to Perry Weather, John can now automate the hassle of taking manual measurements with an on-site weather station that takes WBGT readings every 15 minutes. Additionally, with historical data always being saved in the Perry Weather dashboard, John can review previous daily measurements to prepare not just for tomorrow’s practice, but for next week’s or even the coming months. After using Perry Weather, John had this to say ⬇️: “Perry Weather for us has been a godsend. I have accurate weather data wherever I go, which is very nice, and it makes my job that much easier and that much safer for myself and my athletes.” We like this quote a lot better. Check out the rest of the customer story on the Perry Weather website to see why John and the NMMI faculty won’t ever be going back to taking WBGT measurements manually.
