As the space industry evolves, outdated government regulations and policies will likewise have to evolve. Governments will increasingly become end users of commercial space and be best served by allowing market forces to determine the best solutions. https://lnkd.in/gjePKJJM
Phantom Space
Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing
Building the next generation of space technology
About us
Phantom will do for space what Henry Ford did for the auto industry mass produced small satellite launch systems that lowers the cost of launch 2-3X below the best ride-share capabilities. We combine mass produced launch with mass produced small satellites, affordable in-space propulsion systems and our Phantom Cloud constellation to make space access simpler and more affordable in an expanding space economy.

Commercial insurance is fundamental to the success of commercially funded space. Launches and satellites are routinely insured against loss. New providers and innovations in insurance products are a welcome event. https://lnkd.in/ekcX7nmr

Space has offered the US an asymmetric advantage on the battlefield. With the current federal budget crisis, commercial imagery, networks, and launches will give defense the leverage it needs without burdening the R&D budget. https://lnkd.in/gURUpZuY

Rocket technology remains largely the same as it was 50 years ago. New forms of propulsion, like nuclear, will be needed for future space transportation systems around Earth, Moon and Mars. https://lnkd.in/g8zcMWTN

Phantom Space was started by the SpaceX founding team in 2001, and we were told that taking on the nation-state's job, rockets, was insane. Later in 2002, others said hanging around with a lunatic (Elon) and that I would ruin our reputation. Look at what SpaceX has brought the world. Make no mistake that the world has benefitted from the man and his team willing to risk EVERYTHING. We are seeing it all over again with Starship. Never before has such a launch vehicle been built. And because we have never built one so large and ambitious (as humans), we have never ventured humans to Mars. This is what success looks like when you don't give up. Ordinary people mistake it for failure. https://lnkd.in/gVE4KixZ

Mature transportation systems have multiple providers and modes that differ in size and cost. Space transportation will mature and reflect this same character. Launch capacity is presently scarce, even with SpaceX's massive success. https://lnkd.in/d3p775XW

Launch infrastructure is the lesser-known chokepoint in the space economy. Phantom Space started gathering up launch range capacity five years ago at Vandenberg and Cape Canaveral. We currently have approval for over 100 launches per year at these sites. https://lnkd.in/e95wN_Nv

Commercial space plays a more prominent role in the nation's affairs and missions. What was once the sole domain of nation-states is now being done for a fraction of the cost by commercial entities. This is the natural course of capitalism! https://ow.ly/uMze50V9XBa

Congratulations to Firefly on a job very well done and being the second private company to land on the Moon! https://lnkd.in/dhZATwjH

Space 1.0 was nation-state dominated. Space 2.0 was commercial emergence. Space 3.0 is the digitization of space where the other 3 billion people can develop space capabilities from a keyboard. The future in space is very bright! https://lnkd.in/e2Krf5Hg
