Our CHW Certification Training provides education on recognizing signs of abuse, offering support, and promoting healthy relationships. This one's gonna get a little personal - we can call it a letter from the editor. Today we had a going away party for Grant Stacey one of our EMTs who is moving and I snapped this photo and then later called him to get the scoop on his plans and any thoughts he might have about his time with Phoenix. The call left me fighting tears. 💧 📍 Next stop Cincinnati, Ohio 📌 Plans: 🔸 Get a job with a local company who specializes in non-emergency transport and dabbles in 911 🔸 Get to know the city while working in a familiar role 🔸 Make the leap to 911 down the road Grant has shared his ambitions to try our 911 or hospital-based work over the past couple of years. I am certain he will thrive. He is compassionate, caring, and free-spirited. Next I asked if he had any thoughts to share about his time at Phoenix and, while I expected some kind and heartfelt words, what I got was as follows: " My time at Phoenix has been unlike anything I've ever experienced or will likely experience again. Every day I come into work and it's not like I have to get along with my coworkers, it's like I'm working with my family away from family...The culture, the culture the everyone fights for here is something I will never forget." at that point, I was tearing up and tried to get off the phone but he wanted to say one more thing "Although tomorrow will be my last day at Phoenix it won't be my last day as a Phoenix. Measuring Impact for Positive Change This past weekend, our incredible volunteers—Christina from Tippecanoe Sheriff's Dep, Jim #Phoenix, and Angie from Meridian's ARC —joined Jason at the Driving Range Lot at a Purdue Football game to count how much alcohol is typically consumed. Why? We’re gearing up for our Sober Social Events in October and November, where we’ll offer an engaging, alcohol-free experience during Purdue’s football games. By tracking the current alcohol consumption, we can measure the impact these events will have and foster healthier, more inclusive game-day environments.
