When it comes to cancer, Early Detection = Better Outcomes. While it’s important for healthcare providers to discuss risk factors and preventive screenings with patients, it’s equally important for patients to feel empowered and motivated to ask their providers about screenings. In partnership with the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Phreesia conducted a breast cancer awareness campaign to increase awareness of risk factors and screening recommendations among over 1 million women. A survey of over 2000 patients revealed that 84% of patients who saw the campaign found the information helpful. Moreover, 89% of Hispanic patients and 93% of Black patients who saw the campaign found the information helpful, indicating a need for more resources and information among these groups. Not only did the campaign help Phreesia and the Prevent Cancer Foundation gain valuable data around breast cancer awareness across different age ranges and historically marginalized groups, but it also resulted in nearly 3 in 4 patients reporting plans to talk to their provider about risks factors. It was an honor to speak at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Immunization Conference and connect with healthcare leaders doing amazing work nationwide on immunization.     A few highlights from the conference:     - This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Vaccines for Children (VFC)’s program, which ensures all children have access to life-saving vaccines. As a pediatrician, this program is near and dear to my heart as it allowed my pediatric practice to provide vaccines to our young patients. I am humbled to be reminded of and to have seen firsthand the historic impact of this program.     - If providers are confident they will be reimbursed for vaccinating patients, this supports uptake. Why? Without this reassurance, many providers can’t recoup costs and are forced to opt out. With the rollout of newer vaccines (such as the herpes zoster, or the shingles vaccine and the RSV vaccine), lack of reimbursement to vaccinating providers could serve as a barrier for providers to offer newer vaccines.     - Immunizing our communities to protect them from vaccine-preventable disease is truly a team sport. I was inspired by initiatives that span from the grassroots to federal levels with a common goal of getting more people vaccinated. I’m so proud of the work that Phreesia is doing to support patients and providers to help them have the critical conversations they need to boost vaccination rates.
