We took our experiential creativity UP to the next level for this one…💥 ➡️ Can you make an iconic superhero mansion come to life (...and can we move in)? Yes. ➡️ Can you build an Airbnb that’s also a tour bus for one of the hottest Colombian artists? Absolutely. ➡️ Can you make a house float? Sure, just another Tuesday. ➡️ Can you turn creativity Inside Out (2), make it (Purple) Rain, with Hart? All of the above. 📣📣📣 We can *finally* share one of our best-kept secrets to date — Airbnb Icons. Creative experiences have never been done like this before. So, of course, we went there. We’re Verb. Bringing first-of-its kind creative ideas to life with visionary brand partners like Airbnb is what we do. Speaking of icons and superheroes — shout out to our entire team Verb, and our partners including AOA, Bednark Studio, Produce XM, PBZ LLC, Claudia Steer, Tractor Vision , who make the impossible possible daily. We did it! 🚀🚀🚀 (If you want to do something iconic, you know where to find us.)

Raise your hand if you’ve seen or heard someone downplay their success for laughs. 🖐🏾 The shrug emojis, I-don’t-even-know-how-I-got-here award acceptance speech, and “I’m not even qualified for this!” Slack jokes, when you yourself have spent years working towards success… It’s a privilege to play dumb in the workplace and not fear the consequences. Our co-founder Yadira Harrison calls it the “privilege of stupidity,” and she wrote about it for Fast Company. Here’s the tea ☕⬇️: 📌 This phenomenon goes back to Silicon Valley — where it was “cool” and “relatable” to drop out of college, dress down, and portray your success as something “anyone” could achieve. But those “anyones” all looked Exactly.🧍♂️The. 🧍♂️Same.🧍♂️ 📌 For Black, female and LGBTQ+ founders, starting a business is incredibly difficult. Venture funding for Black-owned startups alone fell as much as 79% in 2023, according to Founders Network. And unlike our successes, our failures are seen as indicative of our entire communities. We cannot afford to play dumb! 📌 When your existence checks multiple “diversity” boxes, it’s not working “twice as hard to get half as much,” it’s working as hard as humanly possible to get a fraction. That’s why the 🤷🏻♂️ behavior is so infuriating. 📌 Business leaders need to be accountable. If not for themselves and their companies, for their teams, communities, and industries at large. Let’s work towards a business landscape where everyone, regardless of their background, has the same chances to succeed—or fail—without the safety net of privilege. Read more from Yadira here 📲 https://bit.ly/3zG3DGe, sound off below if you’ve experienced this, and repost to help get the word out. 📣

Sometimes print just hits different 📰 You know we’re always down to nerd out about brand experiences — and on La Croisette? Say less. 🇫🇷 Thanks to Eliza Williams for a great chat at Cannes which resulted in this beauty of a spread in the latest issue of Creative Review! We share: 🎯 Why we always have a back-up plan—and a back-up plan for the back-up plan 🎯 Keeping our eye on the prize: the story. With every detail we consider what our guests, attendees, creators, press and the internet will say about our brand partners. It’s experiential marketing mad libs!   🎯 How guerilla activations can be your most ambitious (and risky) work — but can create the biggest buzz As our co-founders Shannon Jones and Yadira Harrison say: “you can’t ever predict what’s going to go viral…” but you can pick a partner with a proven track record 😉 Eavesdrop on our conversation in Eliza’s write up, here  👉🏾 https://bit.ly/3XD4mRQ

co-founder at verb. | Ad Age Experiential Agency of the Year

I often wonder if I'm being too open, too raw, or too much when I engage in public speaking or interviews. But over time, I've realized that my emotions and vulnerability are some of my greatest superpowers. As a founder, it's so easy—and common—to only showcase the highlights and hide the hard parts. But authenticity? That's where the real magic happens. I take pride in being my true self, every day, in every space. Sharing my story, truths, and experiences is how I hope to offer comfort, validation, or inspiration to others on this wild entrepreneurial journey. This recent conversation with Mo Said left me feeling lighter—partly because he's one of my best friends and always creates a soft, secure place to land, but also because the conversation reminded me of the strength that comes from being real. At the end of the day, the more we embrace our whole selves, the more we give others permission to do the same.

This interview with one of my best friends, Yadira Harrison, was therapy. For me, and for anyone out there building an agency. We talk about the growing pains of bootstrapping a successful small agency, the emotional journey of a founder, how success affects you and the people around you, and much more. I hope it's helpful for all the creative entrepreneurs out there. YouTube: https://lnkd.in/eJZUTjc4 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eVbvDjWs

In an industry that can often be project-based, we don’t limit our clients to short-order recipes. 👩🏾🍳 We’re always cooking up new solutions, strategic plans and scopes. 🥣 Why? With longer-term big picture partnerships, we’re able to deliver the biggest Verb value and successes for our clients. And we’re always cooking … Our head of marketing and growth Kelle Coleman shares the Verb secrets to maximizing our impact for clients (and getting them to DTR): ➡️ Strategic Thinking: Offer advice and insights that showcase your deep understanding of the client’s industry and business challenges. Provide the most value possible. When your agency is seen as a thought leader and consultant, it naturally leads to a longer-term relationship. 💪🏾 ➡️ Flexibility: A flexible, scalable model allows clients to see retainers as adaptive and responsive to their evolving challenges, making it easier for them to commit. 💸 ➡️ Proactivity: Instead of waiting for a project to end, start discussing retainer options early in the relationship. Focus on consistent, ongoing collaboration for their broader business goals, ensuring that the conversation is outcome-driven rather than task-based. 💡 Read more of Kelle’s advice in @The Drum 👉🏾 https://bit.ly/3ZuRa2A

The keys to growing a successful business (from co-founders who built an award-winning, industry-defying, 8-figure agency in 6 years)? Reputation. Relationships. Receipts. 💥 Shannon Jones and Yadira Harrison recently took the stage at BLCK Street to inspire and educate fellow Black business owners. 💪🏽 Here’s some bars from their conversation with Britnie McDonald 🔑 Reputation: Your greatest asset is your work - take pride in what you produce no matter the scope, and the right people will always notice. The key to a great career is a great reputation. 🔑 Relationships: Sometimes (most times) it really is about who you know. Stay in touch with past colleagues and clients. Let them know what projects you’re working on, and learn about their work. You never know what collaborations can come from strong relationships. 🔑 Receipts: Keep track of your results - and FLEX them! Anyone can build clout saying they’re the greatest, most disruptive, or most innovative, but can they prove it? Always save your receipts and don’t shy from highlighting your career wins. Thanks to the team at BLCK Street and audience who came ready to ask questions! You know we’re always down to continue educating and inspiring 💡 Slide in our DM’s if you want to see our co-founders at your next event 📲
