PlaneWave is committed to providing observatory-class products for serious astronomers at an unprecedented value.
About us
We design and manufactured high-end telescopes optimized to have pin-point stars across large fields of view. Most telescopes designs suffer from off axis aberations. Our design, the CDK, offers a flat, coma free and astigmatic free field of view. This is ideal for visual and CCD imaging.

🌟This week's #repost goes to Kevin Morefield NGC 6726 | Corona Australis *** "Stars forming in the dust. The little red Herbig-Haro objects are associated with star formation and often align with the rotational axis of the new star. The blue is reflected light from young hot stars. The globular cluster NGC 6723 is, I think, an unrelated happy accident." *** 32.6 hours HaLRGB data PlaneWave DR350 QHY600M PlaneWave L-600

✨ This week's #repost goes to Ani Shastry and C. Jonas Moiel • • • "We are excited to present their deep-field and extensive 167 hour collaborative image on SNR G108.2-0.6! This spectacular supernova remnant is located in the Cepheus constellation, directly adjacent to the Wizard nebula! The first public images of this region were published on AstroBin in 2023, named the “Orb Weaver” by Bray Falls and Curtis Morgan, and “Tim’s Nebula” byBlake Behrends. Bray has a nice description of this SN remnant: “It was discovered by radio survey in 2007, and has been largely ignored by optical imagery. It is thought to be a type 1-B supernova, otherwise known as a ‘stripped core collapse’ SN. This occurs when a high-mass star that has already shed its outer layers undergoes a core-collapse supernova, the resulting remnant is then devoid of any hydrogen lines since they were all kicked out earlier in the star’s life cycle. All that is left tends to be Oiii light (if the SN exists in optical light at all).” Jonas and I both have PlaneWave CDK14 telescopes at Sierra Remote Observatories, with his running at the native 2563mm at f/7.2 and mine with the reducer at 1716mm and f/4.8. We realized looking at prior work that a significant amount of data acquisition would be necessary, particularly at our deeper focal lengths and slower scopes, and more particularly with the narrowband filters. We together managed to acquire just over 167 hours of usable data – excellent seeing over the summer months at SRO provided us an opportunity to go bananas at this target and not have to throw away substantial amounts of data. We both have similar processing workflows in PixInsight and Photoshop; however the subtle variations in our respective techniques and our preferences for nuances in what we like our images to look like meant we had to process the images individually, and then combine the best of both worlds, until we arrived at something that we mutually liked. This image is presented at the wider field of view of my configuration."

This week's #repost goes to Dr.Mehmet Hakan Özsaraç! 💫 "The Sculptor Galaxy, also known as NGC 253 or the Silver Dollar Galaxy, is one of the brightest galaxies visible in the night sky and is located 13 million lightyears away. It is a spiral galaxy that can be seen in the Southern Hemisphere sky in the Sculptor constellation and was discovered by astronomer Caroline Herschel in 1783. It is part of the Sculptor Group - a group of galaxies similar to the Local Group, in which our own galaxy the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy reside - and is its brightest member.
