Excited to see Monarch on TWO podiums at Rás na mBan in Ireland last weekend! Poggio are proud sponsors of Monarch, which was founded in 2023 to provide a pipeline for young American women to pursue pro cycling careers.
At Poggio, we think that cycling (and endurance sports in general) are a great metaphor for company building— teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to doing the small things right, day in and day out.
In cycling, you usually only hear the names of the winners… but every win is the result of selfless work by the rest of the team, who go unnoticed to most of the outside world.
We feel that it's such a good metaphor for company building that our company name is an allusion to Milan–San Remo, one of the oldest bicycles races in the world.
Which is why when we found out that Helena Gilbert-Snyder was starting Monarch to fill a massive void in the US women's cycling scene, we were ecstatic to jump on as early partners, and it's been a joy to watch them continue to raise the bar.
In addition to racing, Monarch is also committed to mentoring the next generation of female cyclists in America, leading sit-down discussions about women’s health, training, and nutrition with U19 girls to de-stigmatize and empower them as they encounter challenges through their growth as individuals and athletes.
Every rider on the team is required to lead or volunteer at community events— this year that has included a cycling gear exchange, social ride, memorial ride for a local cyclist, collegiate women’s road skills clinic, skills clinic at Tour of America’s Dairyland, and volunteering at local bike races and city events.
At Poggio we're excited to work with trailblazing organizations of all kinds: our customers, partners, investors, and more and proud to continue our support of Monarch Racing as they break down barriers for women to achieve their dreams in pro cycling.
