That's a wrap on Breakbulk Events & Media 2024! We had an incredible few days connecting with industry leaders, engaging with maritime students, and fostering new partnerships. As the host port, a key highlight was our CEO Charlie Jenkins cutting the ribbon to officially open the event and setting the stage for a fantastic conference. We’re also proud of Jacquie Young-Hall, who participated in a panel discussing the talent gap in the industry, sharing innovative strategies to attract and retain the next generation of maritime professionals. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. See you next year! #MaritimeIndustry #IndustryLeaders #GlobalTrade

Last month, Port Houston welcomed its largest vessel to date—the CMA CGM CASSIOPEIA—at the Bayport Container Terminal. The vessel arrived bringing 13,675 TEUs, measuring 1,188 feet in length and 150 feet in width, showcasing the Port’s growing ability to handle larger ships and increased volumes, thanks to the advancements of Project 11. During its 2.5-day stay, the ship completed 7,327 moves, with a dedicated team ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. This milestone marks just the beginning as Port Houston continues to solidify its position as the fifth-largest container port in the nation. Exciting times are ahead! #MaritimeMilestone #Shipping #Container #Project11

At Port Houston, we recognize the rich history, honor the vibrant culture, and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Hispanic Americans to our community and nation. In line with our ongoing commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, we proudly observed Hispanic Heritage Month with celebrations that reflect the uniqueness of our Hispanic workforce. Across each terminal, employees came together to enjoy a series of lively celebrations that included an array of authentic Hispanic cuisine, interactive games, music, dance, and prizes. The celebrations were designed not only to honor heritage but also to encourage cultural understanding and connection among all team members. #Hispanic #Heritage #Culture

For over a decade, Port Houston has championed the development of future Maritime and Logistics leaders by fostering partnerships between industry, community, and academic stakeholders. Since its launch in 2009, Austin High School's Maritime program has graduated over 1,000 students, becoming our region's first established Maritime Education program. We're thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership between Chevron Shipping and Austin High School. This collaboration will provide students with access to direct classroom lectures, mentorship, workforce development opportunities, and funding for the 200 students currently enrolled in the program. Congratulations to Superintendent Mike Miles, Barbara Pickering, Chevron, and Principal 'Lucio Rodriguez' on creating an innovative partnership model that supports both education and workforce development. #MaritimeEducation #Workforce #Development

Our team recently put on their volunteer shirts and got their hands dirty at Marsh Mania—a marsh planting and restoration event at Exploration Green. In partnership with Exploration Green Conservancy and the Galveston Bay Foundation this event reflects our deep commitment to environmental stewardship. By preserving and enhancing the wetlands, we support wildlife habitats, protect our natural resources, and beautify greenspaces. Thank you to everyone who worked towards a collective 120 volunteer hours and planted 1,700 stems of freshwater marsh plants. Together we strive to make a difference.
