Seaweed? Enzyme inhibitors? Sunflower oil? 🌻 These are primary ingredients in various feed additives that are being explored to reduce methane emissions from livestock. While feed additives may complement other, more impactful mitigation strategies, such as dietary changes, all of us should be wary of overstated claims from the meat and livestock industry about the impact of additives. Go in-depth on these various additives, their promise, and their challenges with Eric Toensmeier, Project Drawdown research fellow and specialist in agroforestry and perennial crops. The world's leading resource for climate solutions.
About us
Project Drawdown is the world’s leading resource for climate solutions. Our mission is to help the world stop climate change—as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible. To do this, we pursue three key strategies: Advance Effective, Science-based Climate Solutions and Strategies. We do the science no one else does to cut through the noise and find effective “whole system” solutions and strategies for stopping climate change. Foster Bold, New Climate Leadership. We inform, inspire, and empower business leaders, investors, and philanthropists to take bold, new positions, act more strategically, and rapidly bring climate solutions to scale. Promote New Narratives and New Voices. We work to shift the conversation about climate change from “doom and gloom” to “possibility and opportunity.” And we elevate new, underrepresented climate heroes through storytelling and “passing the mic.” A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Project Drawdown is funded by individual and institutional donations.

Do you feel that you can make a difference in climate in your current role? If meaningful action feels far away, you’re not alone. Many companies do not adequately support their employees in taking climate action at work. Project Drawdown is sharing stories of employees like you who have used our tools (The Job Function Action Guides and Climate Solutions at Work) to bring climate into the workplace and effectively advocate for the support they need. Like Shane Tierney at Microsoft who founded the Green Design Lab, launched climate discussion circles, facilitates sustainability hackathons, and consults with product teams across the entire organization on how to embed sustainable design principles into their work. Betsy Osterberger of General Mills who ran a media study and found that by sharing the company's sustainability work — like supporting farmers and promoting regenerative agricultural practices — they boosted sales and new consumer interest. Now, with this data in hand, her team is able to advocate for sustainability messaging and supply chain action. We are excited to bring you TWO new Job Function Action Guides this Labor Day!
