🥜 🏆 Team Highlight🏆 🥜 This team partnered with their Community Partner, Micah to tackle a big issue: accidental peanut consumption and took home the Explorer Award at Demo Day LA! With the help of fellow Ray Chou, they used ELISA technology to develop devices that detect arachin, the peanut protein that causes allergies. Their mission is to ensure food safety, especially for those with allergies. Big thanks to everyone who supported them on this journey! 🌟 #projectinvent  #demoday #ExplorerAward #Innovation #Teamwork #designthinking

⭐ Team Highlight ⭐ This year at Demo Day X in Northern California, Growing Minds took home the 'Moonshot' award! They teamed up with Dustin, an agriculture teacher, and with the help of their fellows William Walls and R’Quiya Ruffins, they created an innovative agricultural tool called The Botani Tower. This invention, complete with a microcontroller, soil moisture, water level sensors, a water pump, and lights, was designed to enhance plant care and be an educational tool for students. 🌿 🏆 Huge shoutout to the team Growing Minds from The Bestbuy Teen Tech Center MLK Center Indy for creating an awesome invention with sustainability in mind!   #projectinvent2024 #demoday2024 #MoonshotAward #Innovation #Teamwork #sdgs #environmental #designthinking

Ginn Academy is a school for young men where Project Invent students worked with their Community Partner, Joe, from the University Hospitals (UH) Cutler Center for Men, a sector of the UH Cleveland Medical Center. With Joey, these boys worked to tackle the disparate statistic that fewer than 50% of men suffering from depression seek treatment. Inspired by this, the students developed “The Joey”, a watch with bluetooth capabilities that young men can click on to easily connect with a mental health professional at the Cutler Center. Currently, they are looking at ways in which they can bring access to this device to more young men, including pursuing a patent, so that they can lift the negative stigma about mental health within their very own community. At Project Invent Demo Day this past May the team won the Moonshot Award for a notably novel or impactful idea. Since Demo Day, the team has also been invited to enter the National Innovator's Challenge and we can't wait to see where they take their prototype next! We are grateful to Burton D. Morgan Foundation for their generous funding to make our partnership at Ginn Academy possible. This story at Ginn Academy highlights the Foundation’s values of Empowering Individual Agency and Building the entrepreneurial mindset, because this student-directed project has truly cultivated the initiative within these young men to continue to pursue their project further. #NEOeship

We are thrilled for renewed support from the Education Grant award from First Tech Federal Credit Union. This grant will allow us to continue empowering students in the San Jose region, like the students from Team OMAR and Grab-a-Cane, to invent for social good! Meet Team OMAR , as Project Invent students in the school year 2021-22 they developed the OMAR (the Overhead Movement Alarm Radar). A device that uses ultrasonic sensors and vibration motors to alert visually impaired users when there is an object in their path, and helps them to maneuver around it. Continuing their invention journey, today, this team is onto prototype 2.3 and getting a provisional patent! Meet Team Grab-a Cane, as Project Invent students in school year 2022-2023 they developed a two-in-one picker upper cane with the push of a button. This device was developed after they met with their Community Partner, and assists hEDS patients, elderly and people with joint pain to pick up objects with more ease. Thank you First Tech Federal Credit Union for your dedication and generosity in supporting our mission!
