At our 2024 Project Sunshine Gala, we were honored to highlight the heartwarming story of the Veras Family. They were introduced to Project Sunshine by Elssy Rosales, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. Witnessing how our programs positively impacted their lives was truly inspiring. Watch the full video here https://lnkd.in/ep9dnB57.

About us
Project Sunshine’s mission is to deliver the healing power of play to children with medical needs through trained and dedicated volunteers. For over 20 years, Project Sunshine volunteers have brought joy and play directly to pediatric patients through our network of medical facility and nonprofit partners across the country. Over 18,000 trained volunteers deliver programs that provide opportunities for creative expression, socialization, intellectual stimulation, and sensory integration to more than 175,000 pediatric patients and families each year. Our unique volunteer engagement model allows community groups, colleges, and corporations to create moments of connection with pediatric patients, caregivers, and families providing child and family-centered, play-based programming. Project Sunshine partners with 475 medical facilities across the U.S. and in four international locations.

We were thrilled to have 18 volunteers from Marathon Petroleum Corporation's Terminal Operations host a vibrant Mardi Gras-themed Here to Party event with us! They brought joy to 25 children and families at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio by creating Mardi Gras-themed fleece pillows, calming jars, masks, and sun catchers. 🎉🎭 They even played limbo and capped it off by enjoying time at an ice cream bar! Thank you to the amazing volunteers for bringing festive fun to children and families facing challenging times. Your company can also host a party with us for children with medical needs! Email corporate@projectsunshine.org to get started.

Alaina, a sweet 8-month-old, was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis, a rare condition that affects joint and muscle development. See how her mom Ava came across our Puppet Pal kits which have been bringing joy to Alaina: “My daughter, who has been diagnosed with Arthrogryposis and has little to no movement in her arms, is obsessed with the animal hand puppets this organization has donated to Arkansas children northwest. She is 8 months old and we have watched her have little to no interest in toys because of her lack of movement in her arms. I saw the yellow bags in the cart outside her clinic and picked two up, not knowing what was inside and boy am I so happy I did! She has lit up every time she sees them. We sing, play silly games and talk with them. My family and I are so grateful for these puppets. It has given us a new way to interact with her.” We’re grateful that the Puppet Pals continue to bring smiles to Alaina and offer her family a new way to connect with her. 🌞

Volunteering brings me joy and fulfillment as I give back to society. Proud to stand alongside the Hartford team in supporting Project Sunshine. Bringing joy to kids facing medical challenges reminds us how small acts of kindness can create a big impact!
Employees in our Hartford office recently had the opportunity to volunteer with Project Sunshine, an organization dedicated to delivering the healing “power of play” to kids with medical challenges. Employees teamed up to create several craft kits for pediatric cancer patients. Thanks to everyone who gave their time to support this important cause and to Project Sunshine for their continued dedication to kids in our communities. #talcottcares #helpinghands #community

Last week we shared with the Project Sunshine community that after 7 wonderful years, I will be stepping down as CEO on May 30. I am not sure what’s next but I look forward to spending more time with my family and supporting this carefully planned transition. My fantastic board chair, Natan Bibliowicz shared this generous note. This has been one of my most favorite professional experiences and I am excited for the search committee and DRG Talent to find the next leader of this great org!
With gratitude and admiration, we announce that after seven years of visionary leadership, Whitney Namm Pollack will transition from her role as CEO of Project Sunshine on May 30. Under her guidance, we've grown significantly, serving over 250,000+ children and families each year and partnering with 500+ hospitals. Read the full message from our Board Chair, Natan Bibliowicz, as he reflects on Whitney's leadership and next steps for Project Sunshine.
