The Alliance is now accepting applications for the Youth Advisory Board. The Youth Advisory Board meets virtually twice per month and helps guide the Alliance's work through a youth-focused lens. There are opportunities to work on leadership skills, work on and present workshops, and so much more! This is a paid opportunity for the time spent in the meetings. The HIV and the Journey Toward Zero docuseries spotlights a Midwestern experience through the perspective of Chicago advocates and survivors from all walks of life. Part III reunites cast members for a series of intergenerational discussions. The documentary is presented by the Chicago Department of Public Health (@chipublichealth) and Tessa Films (@tessa.films). Hosted at Calor - HIV and Journey Towards Zero part 3: “The Conversation”, a powerful documentary that sheds light on the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS. This film delves deeply into the personal stories of individuals affected by HIV, showcasing their experiences, struggles, and resilience in the face of the epidemic. It was a pleasure to be in attendance and see Black and Brown people of all ages coming together to have such intentional conversations about the needs of communities and the importance of a collaborative approach. I walked away feeling inspired and ready to continue doing the work that is needed. Leaf Ciaz, Outreach Prevention Specialist for the RSUPIC program at PHIMC, recently attended a panel hosted by Healthcare Alternatives Systems (HAS) and Illinois Harm Reduction and Recovery Coalition to see what elders and experts in drug policy have to say about Chicago's future on how we address substance use. They are excited to join the Westside Taskforce for Opioid/Heroin Overdose to celebrate the work of ending overdose and bringing awareness to community providers in various areas of substance use.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). Held on August 31 each year, IOAD is the world's largest campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. The theme for 2024, "Together we can", highlights the importance and the power of our community. Overdose can affect anyone, and we encourage you to remember the tenacity of our community.
