As we progress through our inaugural semester, we’re thrilled to share the incredible strides that Women in Law has made. This semester, we focused on building up a campus community, empowering our members, and giving our members insight into a career in law. 1.       Guest Speakers: We’ve hosted amazing guest speakers so far, and still have more to come! Our first ever guest speaker, Luisa White, talked to us about her career running Legal Aid of Tippecanoe County and owning her own firm, Luisa White Law. Our second speaker, Stephanie Chambless, brought in a new perspective as she explained her duties in D.C. working as Senior Investigative Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee and her recent role as Senior Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump. Both speakers explained their paths from Purdue to law school to legal practice, giving us real insight into what our futures could be like. 2.       Workshops: Our first meeting post-callout was a law school workshop day, where we discussed everything you’d need to prepare for law school. Members of exec discussed their experience taking the LSAT, finding internships, and taking classes at Purdue that are particularly helpful for law school hopefuls. Coming up, we also have a resume-building workshop, where we plan on discussing how to format an impactful resume. Thank you to all of our members and supporters who have made this first semester so successful! We look forward to finishing this semester strong, empowering pre-law women at Purdue, and cultivating our connections with one another.
