About us

As the largest agency in the State of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) employs more than 6,400 Hoosiers, supervises almost 7,000 parolees in communities across the state and is responsible for the safety and security of more than 27,000 adults and 410 juveniles inside our correctional facilities. The IDOC currently operates 18 adult facilities, 3 juvenile facilities and 10 parole districts. Even though the reach is far and wide, each small part of the Department is committed to the main tenets of our mission: to increase public safety and reduce recidivism. Mission: We promote public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. Vision: As the model of best correctional practices, we strive to return productive citizens to our communities and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism.
