About us
Purple-Roof is a non-proprietary green roof concept for stormwater management. Purple-Roof is non-proprietary so architects and engineers can specify Purple-Roof for their projects, with the ease of specifying a manufactured product. However, with the benefit of knowing that the project can be competitively bid without breaking spec. Purple-Roof was born of 20 years of worldwide experience and exhaustive green roof research. We research before we make claims, and we back up our claims with scientific evidence. Purple-Roof also has a solid track record of performance in practical applications. Green roofs should not be one-size-fits-all. A green roof should be designed and specified appropriately to the climate based on local rainfall and evapotranspiration rates. Economic sustainability is critical to long-term environmental sustainability. We believe the owner should see a return on investment of a green roof, beyond merely meeting regulatory requirements. This starts by using a green roof that is a true stormwater management tool incorporating retention and detention. Such a roof frees up space for maximum real estate potential while realizing all other benefits such as energy savings, biodiversity, habitat creation, and heat island benefits.
