Salt Shed is the recipient of a 2024 Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award for Adaptive Use! 16 on Center, Blue Star Properties, R2 Companies and Sky Deck combined forces to lead the transformative reimagining of the former Morton Salt processing and distribution factory into a thriving music and events venue. The project brought back to life an iconic landmark along the Chicago River, sparking economic development, creating jobs and attracting people to a new part of the city long home to primarily industrial activity.
