Increasing shared understanding of our world through community-led initiatives that make data easier to access and use.
About us
Radiant Earth is a nonprofit technology company working to expand access to geospatial data and machine learning models that can be used to address the impacts of climate change and support conservation efforts. The future of our species depends on our ability to develop sustainable methods of sharing data with one another. Shared access to data allows humans to develop a fact-based and shared understanding of our world, which is necessary for us to collaboratively address global challenges. Expanding access to data about our planet is necessary to empower more people to perform scientific research, reduce the cost of research and product development, enable reproducibility of research, and foster collaboration among institutions. Our vision is a world in which shared data is used to improve decision making at all levels of society.

Once you visualize risk, it's hard to ignore it. Digital models and data analysis can predict environmental impacts. Identify vulnerable areas, and test adaptation measures before it’s too late. Such knowledge plays a crucial role in risk management & raising awareness. ~ Recently, we had the opportunity to support PLACE. Which, in cooperation with the Tuvalu Government, is documenting, modeling, and simulating the risks and impacts of rising sea levels. Tuvalu, a low-lying coral atoll nation, faces an existential threat. This small country proactively fights back with various mapping initiatives. To catalog and monitor it's most precious assets; land. In early 2024, PLACE and the Tuvaluan Government rapidly gathered new drone data for Funafuti, advancing their climate resilience efforts. DSM, True-Orthophoto and Reality Mapping 3D mesh models inriched their GIS database. To learn more. read the Blog Post: https://lnkd.in/d-pZvzvC and view the PLACE Story Map: https://lnkd.in/dR39pM-m #3dgis #mapping #geospatial --- Have you found value? Excited to see this launch today. Having a common language for supply chain data is an important step towards the transition to safe and sustainable production. If you miss my voice and want to hear more about why this important, listen here: https://lnkd.in/e5HDk7Aw
Hello hello! Our 📢 public review phase of the SC-DEX Technical Draft starts now! Over the course of Q4 2024, we're looking for public comment on V1 of the core schema and proposed extensions model. The Supply Chain Data Exchange Standard (SC DEX) technical draft has been designed to address the growing need for transparency and interoperability in global supply chains. Our draft lays out the core schema and extensions that will enable organizations to exchange supply chain data efficiently and securely. 🚀 What can you expect from the technical draft? - A lean and simple JSON format that facilitates interoperability with other data standards—think of it like a digital "hallway" between different existing standards. - Core components such as location identifiers, organization identifiers, and relationship types. - Built-in flexibility to add custom extensions for specific use cases like sustainability, labor rights, and risk management. We're developing these with our partners, and look forward to the ideas that you have. 🛠️ How can you contribute? This draft is open for public feedback, and we encourage everyone—from technical implementers to civil society organizations—to share their thoughts and help shape the future of supply chain data. Learn more and submit your feedback here: https://lnkd.in/gRDzgZbV #DataStandards #SupplyChainData #SC-DEX #PublicReview #DataInteroperability #SupplyChainTransparency

Catch the first episode of the new season of the Scene from Above podcast, featuring our own Jed Sundwall! He shares insights on the future of the geospatial industry and the innovations shaping.
Is the future of geospatial in the cloud ☁️ ? Sabrina Szeto and I are hosting a series of conversations centered around this question. With ever increasing amounts of satellite data and computational power available, moving geospatial workflows to the cloud opens the doors to powerful insights. But what does it take to really switch to doing things in a cloud-native way? Our first guest is Jed Sundwall, Executive Director of Radiant Earth and I couldn't imagine a better person to kick off this series with. Jed is a pioneer in bringing Earth Observation data to the cloud and I enjoyed talking with him about how he ended up bringing the Landsat archive to the AWS cloud, demystifying the term cloud-native geospatial and where he sees our industry is heading... Happy Friday to you all and let me know in the comments if you would like to see more conversations 🗣️ like this. #geospatial #cloudcomputing #podcast
