About us

Since 1974, RAMS has been providing and advocating for mental health and wellness services that are centered in clients, community and culture. Historically serving Asian and Pacific Islander Americans populations, today RAMS supports those who have the least resources and opportunities to achieve their highest potential by providing integrated services that include counseling, job training, capacity building for partner organizations and advanced training of mental health professionals. Annually, the agency serves and outreaches to well over 19,000 adults, children, youth, and families, and provides services in over 30 languages, offering over 30 clinical programs in over 90 sites citywide, to meet the diverse community needs. RAMS service areas include: individual, family & group counseling with children, youth, adults, and older adults (of all ages, starting at birth); residential services, vocational training & employment services; psychology training and clinical practicum (training the next generation of culturally competent mental health professionals), youth and adult workforce development & career pathways and education (summer day camp fostering interest and mentorship in the health & human services field; jointly operating a Certificate program with SF State University); and community organizing and advocacy activities. ✨ Celebrating RAMS’ 50 Years of Impact: Meet Trina de Joya, Director of Human Resources Trina is a bicultural and (somewhat) bilingual Pinay with over two decades of experience in the Human Resources field. Trina started at RAMS in 2000, bringing expertise in regulatory compliance, employee relations, consultation and support with personnel management, recruitment & employer-based immigration sponsorship, employee safety & risk management, and compensation. With her university experience focused on journalism, socio-economics, anthropology, and Asian American Studies, combined with her background as an immigrant / third culture kid, her immersion in the Asian American diaspora served to inform her work in supporting the diverse communities at RAMS. She feels it is an immense and humbling privilege to have a role in supporting the growth and evolution of RAMS over the past 2 decades. A fun fact about Trina is that, prior to RAMS, Trina worked in Filipino-American television and print media, and dabbled in spoken word poetry. She collaborated with Fil-Am activist/musician/film-maker Chet Canlas on a piece recorded for the first-ever Fil-Am spoken-word anthology CD titled "Infliptration". She's currently a parental unit to a moody teenage artist, life partner to an extroverted musician, and serves on the Board of Directors for Kearny Street Workshop. Her current interests include obscure pop culture references, off-key karaoke, sci-fi fantasy genres, and awkwardly-timed humor. Join us in celebrating Trina’s incredible journey in shaping RAMS’ 50-year legacy! #RAMS50Years #CommunityImpact #MeetOurLeaders
