A new Shinola Hotel is coming to Indy in 2027. RATIO CEO William A. Browne, Jr., FAIA, LEED AP provides an update in a recent interview. The design draws inspiration from the historic Wholesale District and Shinola’s flagship hotel in Detroit, featuring modern arches, brick, and terra cotta to create an iconic identity for visitors. The development will include 170 rooms, a 4,000-capacity music venue, retail spaces, and a pedestrian bridge connecting to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Watch the clip here: https://lnkd.in/g6a8AiHT

Universities around the country are welcoming students back to campus for fall semester. We’re kicking off the academic year by highlighting the renovation and expansion of the Roy O. West Library at DePauw University. This transformation provides students with an updated space to gather while preserving the traditions of its distinctive campus experience. The new library design features an academic technology commons equipped with digital production and visualization labs, collaborative study and teaching spaces, and a two-story reading room overlooking the campus. Summer is almost over, and our studios have been full of activity these past few weeks. From trips to local museums to art & design events, here’s a recap of recent happenings across our studios: -         Denver took fieldtrips to the Botanical Gardens, Design in Bloom and a special Night at the Museum outing to see the exhibit, Biophilia at the Denver Art Museum. Our studio also enjoyed a Painting and Pottery workshop. -         Champaign kicked off the summer with a trip to see the Cornbelters, and later hosted a Tiny Tiny House design workshop in the studio. -         Raleigh celebrated the summer in a sporty fashion with a Durham Bulls game. The studio also did a site visit for one of our current local K12 projects. -         The Chicago studio continued its annual tradition in participating in the Chicago Architecture Summer Volleyball League, and to keep on the competitive theme, participated in the AIA Guess-A-Sketch competition. -         Finally, the Indy studio held its annual trip to Symphony on the Prairie. This year’s show was a tribute to musical legend, QUEEN! Our culture events are always a good time, and we are excited for more to come in 2024! As always, a special thanks to our culture team for organizing these unique events and bringing our studios together. #RATIOCulture
