Rebuilding Together Long Island

This much need ramp for a 95 and 96 year old couple presented some challenges. The Building Department declined our first drawing, but if at first you don't succeed, you try again. The second drawing was approved. It was a tight fit between two houses, but the crew got it done.

This week we had the honor of tabling at the Nassau County Veterans Picnic Resource Fair. Thanks to Wayne Marr and Pat Trustey for doing such a great job. It was a wonderful day to meet town officials and to speak with many veterans and let them know about our FREE Hero Home Repair Program for veterans. 🇺🇸

Thank goodness our focus is on safety. Here you see an 8 foot drop WITHOUT any sort of guardrail. Very scary and potentially life-threatening, but we took care of that.

Repairing the front staircase and storm door for a divorced senior, living alone, who as much as she'd like to, just can't keep up with all the home maintenance. Following spinal surgery, our neighbor is limited in what she can do and we're happy to lend a hand.

It is always a honor to serve our VETERANS. In this case we had a generous grant to replace all the badly leaking windows in the home this young vet returned to after being injured during maneuvers in Africa. The house had also been badly damaged by squatters while he was away. We took care of the internal damage, but needed a contractor for the windows. Unfortunately, once the job was started, we quickly learned the damage was extensive. The siding had to be removed and much of the plywood had to be replaced. We are thankful to the Foundation, who prefers anonymity, for covering the cost of the 16 new windows. Our veteran now has a fresh start. We thank him for his service

Rebuilding Together Long Island has been chosen as a recipient of a $100,000 grant from NBC Universal. These funds will allow to do even more for our struggling homeowners on Long Island. Special thanks to the Nassau County Bar Association's WE CARE Fund and their wonderful team of volunteers. They joined us on Saturday to build a long wheelchair ramp for an elderly couple who now have access to medical care, as well as once again being able to feel the sun on their fact. We Applaud You!

CHARITY EVENT: Excited to say we’ll be celebrating Ward Hooper again, this time at the Northport village Art Gallery THE FIREFLY ARTISTS from July 17-30 with a special reception on July 21st featuring background music with Janice Buckner. Over 100 watercolors will be on exhibit and for sale to benefit the non-profit Rebuilding Together Long Island. The volunteer charity I help run. Thank you, Ward, for donating your art to help others. Thank you Katheryn Laible for hosting the event at the Best Art Gallery on Long Island.

Thank you Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) for your ongoing support over many years. Last week a team from LIBOR joined us building a wheelchair ramp, This time it happened to be an all "girls" team and they were phenomenal. No matter what was thrown at them (digging posts, pulling out shrubs, carrying and measuring and cutting lumber), it was no match for these workers. Thanks so much for supporting us, as well as the people and communities we serve.
