We are excited to introduce Caroline Mendelsohn, who has recently joined the Volcani International Partnerships team 🌟 as an Associate. Caroline grew up in Washington, D.C., and earned her degree in Middle Eastern Studies with a focus on international relations and culture from the University of Texas at Austin. With nearly a decade of experience in the nonprofit and NGO sectors across the U.S. and Israel, Caroline brings a wealth of knowledge to our team, particularly in international development. Her recent work on solar and water technology projects in rural Africa ignited her passion for sustainable agriculture and knowledge sharing. Outside of work, Caroline enjoys traveling the world in search of the best vegan food, petting adorable animals, hiking to stunning views, and dancing ballet when she's not on the go. Is the future of agriculture indoors? Yesterday, we joined ReGrow Israel’s vision to build a future greenhouse as part of its mission to rebuild and strengthen agriculture in the western Negev. We heard some innovative approaches about how the new indoor facilities will look from Yoram Kapulnik, Adi Dishon, Avraham Arbel, Uri Adler, Abraham Gamliel, and Avital Bechar. We tasted some practical implementations of greenhouse use cases from Ramat Negev Research Center Desert and @Darom Research Center and met some of the Israeli indoor startups and companies: Arugga AI Farming, Tapkit, Grofit | Simply Grow More, Saffron Tech, CoverDolly, @ELVA and BiomicAgritech. ReGrow Israel is lucky to have many volunteers using their talents to help our cause. Nicole Hazan, a talented author, offered to do the extremely important work of compiling testimonies from farmers in the Western Negev about their experiences on October 7th. We're honored that the Jewish Book Council published the testimony from @Amos Lavi, survivor and witness to the atrocities that took place in Kibbutz Nirim.
