A new issue of the REINFORCING newsletter has been published and includes big news for the #ORRI community! 📣 We announced the launch of the REINFORCING ORRI platform, a digital space available on our website. It aims to help European stakeholders, both in institutions and civil society, to develop R&I methodologies. Here we are for another presentation post about the REINFORCING ORRI Platform! 🤝 The second section of the platform is called “ORRI Community” and is a place to meet other ORRI stakeholders, connect with them, and gain inspiration. This part of the platform has three sub-sections: “ORRI Map,” “REINFORCING Grantees,” and “Sibling Projects and Platforms.” The first button opens a map, available on the REINFORCING website, that collects ORRI Ambassadors and Facilitators in Europe; the second one allows you to get to know our grantees and their projects; the last one lists the projects that are siblings of REINFORCING (PATTERN, Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment, ECS, IMPETUS for citizen science!, iRISE_EU, OSIRIS, TIER2 Project, FUTURESILIENCE, COALESCE SciComm). 👉 Click here to navigate the ORRI Community section of the ORRI Platform: https://lnkd.in/drKPM5Hc

The ORRI platform has been online for days, and now we want to present its different sections more precisely. ⭕ The Grants part describes a benchmark of our project: the financial support that REINFORCING gives selected projects to develop ORRI activities and methodologies. Here, in the "Grants" sub-section, you can find general information about funding and read the text of the current call (the 4th REINFORCING call has not been opened yet). Exploring the "ORRI Community" sub-section, you can get to know projects that have been selected in the previous calls, sibling REINFORCING projects, and ORRI stakeholders presented in the ORRI Map. The Conference of the Parties (COP) is one of the most relevant institutional gatherings for fighting climate change at a global and cooperative level. This year, the COP29 Azerbaijan will occur in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November. An approach based on research and innovation practices can surely help institutions face the dramatic effects of the climate crisis. In 2022, when the conference was in Egypt, a panel dedicated to the role of R&I in the fight against climate change was organized and recorded. The speakers included Wolfgang Cramer, Professor of Global Ecology at the Mediterranean Institute for Marine and Terrestrial Biodiversity and Ecology. This one-hour-long meeting focuses on extreme weather events and actions that can be realized to take the climate crisis as a serious issue for the future of the Mediterranean and our planet. 🖥️ Watch the video at this link: https://lnkd.in/dAfTGCiQ

🌟 Are you a stakeholder in the public engagement sector? If so, read this post—there's an opportunity for you! EUSEA - European Science Engagement Association promotes and enhances public engagement with science and technology across Europe. To do so, it organizes the #EUSEA25 Conference, which will take place in Canary Islands, Spain, on May 14th and 15th. The call for proposals is open until December 1st and refers to projects exploring how public engagement and science communication can navigate «turbulent waters and changing tides.» The conference's complete title is "Crossing Oceans – Raising Our Sails. Public Engagement in Turbulent Times" and all of its materials play with the water-based metaphor. «Research and innovation are critical drivers of economic resilience, competitiveness, and wellbeing.» 🆕 This is one of the final sentences of a new article published on the European Commission website titled "How best to boost the potential of the European Research Area," written by the EC Directorate-General for Communication.
