eCommerce is projected to hit over $38 billion in total advertising spend by the end of this year. Q4 is where most of that is spent. I think a lot of ad $$ is still being wasted and acquisition funnels are not operating at full efficiency. What's missing? 🤔 Effective capture and then activation of zero party data both in the onsite and retargeting experience. Zero party data (aka consumer preference data) is at the center of an effective marketing funnel because when used appropriately it helps show the consumer more of what THEY want to see and less of what they don't care about. For example, if a customer lands on your website from an influencer ad funnel, they should see a list growth pop-up or quiz relevant to that influencer. And if they tell you on that pop-up or quiz that they're an absolute beginner in their workout journey (which is a zero party data point), they should see more content and products related to a beginner workout level. Both in the onsite experience AND in the retargeting experience across ads, SMS, etc... This is what creates a connected customer journey and ultimately helps to increase efficiency in your spend.
