Reflecting on my summer, I am so thankful to have spent a month interning at the Civil Engineering consulting firm, RH2 Engineering. During my internship, I worked on a variety of projects and gained new skills and knowledge regarding Civil and Environmental Engineering. To start my month, I worked on the EPA-mandated Lead Service Line Inventory for a client. This was an introduction to water mains, service line materials, water contamination, and data processing. Additionally, I further developed my skills in technical writing. This included work on internal company documents, Tech Memos, and Capital Improvement Plans for clients. Aside from gaining practice in drafting and writing, I got a taste for billable work, working alongside clients, and meeting deadlines. Lastly, I spent time on a variety of data processing and analysis tasks. This included generating American Water Works Association (AWWA) audits, recording reclamation basin data, and processing a client's water consumption for a sustainability dashboard. The AWWA water audit taught me how water is consumed and billed on a large scale. Working hands-on with reclamation basin data introduced me to a variety of markers that are tested for reclaim preformance. Lastly, organizing and analyzing large scale water consumption data allowed me to parse through large masses of data in a timely manner. All in all, I am incredibly grateful for my time at RH2. I look forward to expanding upon the knowledge I aquired through this internship during my 2nd year coursework at the University of Washington’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

✨🎉 We’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone with Douglas Schlepp, a Principal, the Bellevue Office Manager, and Project Manager who has been an integral part of RH2 Engineering for 35 years! 🎉✨ Doug’s remarkable success is rooted in his ability to seamlessly blend technical expertise with outstanding interpersonal skills. “Doug truly cares about our clients and the public we serve, always willing to step up and help in any way he can,” says President Tony Pardi. Reflecting on his journey at RH2, Doug highlights his involvement in the development of the Issaquah Highlands from 1996 to the present as one of his most impactful projects. “It was fast-paced, chaotic, demanding, contentious, and challenging. It was a team effort with City of Issaquah staff, consultants, and the major developer working together. While there was a series of developer consultants, RH2 was retained throughout,” Doug recalls. When asked what he enjoys most about working at RH2, Doug shares, “It’s the ability to make a lasting difference in the communities in which I live, work, and play.” Doug also has valuable advice for current and future RH2 team members: “Always know that you don’t work alone—there is a company of resources at your disposal.” Congratulations, Doug, on 35 incredible years at RH2 Engineering! #RH2Engineering #Congratulations #Success #CivilEngineering #Milestone

Celebrating with Geneva Pipe and Precast, A Northwest Pipe Company regarding the Marina Pump Station Improvements 🎉 Bringing this design to bid was a massive RH2 team effort led by John Hendron. This project began in 2018 and involved employees from almost every one of our specialty groups and it includes siting alternatives, predesign analysis, sea-level rise assessment, geotechnical investigations, sea wall evaluation, and physical modeling to evaluate the hydrodynamics of the existing wet well. We are looking forward to seeing the City of Port Orchard community benefit from these improvements—it’s awesome to see our company’s mission in action! #RH2 #Innovation #Engineering

We're thrilled to announce that our first Perfect Lined Manhole System has been installed in the State of Washington! Geneva Pipe and Precast is supplying two precast manholes with integrally cast liners and watertight joint gaskets—one 72" and one 96" in diameter—for the City of Port Orchard's Marina Pump Station Improvement Project. This project presents some unique challenges, with the product going into service just steps from the Puget Sound and a flow line over 8.5 feet below sea level! Stay tuned for more on this wastewater upgrade project designed by RH2 Engineering. #wastewater #washington #waterinfrastructure
