Lilly Ledbetter played a crucial role in paving the way towards gender equity in the workforce. Her recent passing marks the loss of an inspiring advocate, but her legacy continues in the fight for equal pay and the ongoing battle against gender discrimination.
Associate Producer & EVP of Partnerships for LILLY | Champion for Social Impact | Senior Advisor at Simple Spirits | Corporate Partnership Consultant at Represent Justice | Founding Member
The LILLY film team is deeply saddened by the passing of Lilly Ledbetter. She has been the guiding inspiration in our efforts to depict her remarkable life journey. We were immensely inspired by her and countless women and workers around the world have been too. Lilly's legacy is one of courage and resilience; she recognized an injustice and fought bravely to correct it. Her impact has and continues to reverberate around the country and the world. Lilly is an ordinary woman who achieved extraordinary things, and her story continues to inspire us all. We will miss her.

In honor of International Day of the Girl, I’m honored to co-author this piece with Jennifer Rumsey in IndustryWeek, calling on business, philanthropic, and nonprofit leaders to prioritize investments in girls. One thing I've learned over the years is that we are never going to achieve gender equality if we just keep preaching to the choir. It’s only by engaging new and unexpected allies that we’re going to really move the needle for women and girls. The article shares lessons we’ve learned during Rise Up's six years of partnering with Cummins Inc. to create positive impacts for more than 27 million people globally. Together we’re answering the call for investment in girls – are you? https://lnkd.in/g3i-Wyas #IDG2024 #InternationalDayoftheGirl #IDG

Thank you to Jennifer Rumsey and Cummins Inc. for your partnership! Together, we are breaking down barriers for girls and women. #IDG2024
In honor of International Day of the Girl, Denise Raquel Dunning, PhD and I are calling on our fellow leaders in business, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors to build strong alliances and make greater investments in girls through concrete actions as outlined here https://lnkd.in/gVZiBf9d. We know through numerous studies that investing in girls’ health, wellbeing, education and skills development leads to greater opportunities, higher incomes, increased productivity and a more skilled workforce – and yet, girls have not been a priority for global investment. In partnership with Rise Up, Cummins Inc. has been focused on advancing girls’ rights and leadership around the world. Together, we have invested in more than 700 local girls, women and allied leaders who have positively impacted more than 27 million people globally. We’re women leaders answering the call for investment in girls – are you?

🌍✨ Happy International Day of the Girl! ✨🌍 This year's theme is Girls’ Vision for the Future, which is always top of mind for us. Last week, in honor of this special day, we co-hosted The Power of Girls' Education and Leadership: A Spotlight on Africa. The event highlighted the urgent need to invest in girls' education and leadership as key drivers of gender equality, with five inspiring leaders from across Africa showing us what’s possible when girls lead. Check out some of the best moments from the inspiring event in this video! 🎥✨

We had such an inspiring week in September meeting and spending time with the newest group of Rise Up Leaders in California! Here’s a glimpse of what 4 of these incredible visionaries shared about the start of their journey with us. ✨ Leticia Landa is the Executive Director of La Cocina - Nonprofit Kitchen Incubator , a nonprofit in San Francisco empowering immigrant women and women of color to formalize their food businesses. ✨ Ashley Rojas is the Policy Director at Indigenous Justice, a statewide organization serving tribal communities across California. She focuses on gender-based violence, particularly within the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) crisis. ✨ Ithiopia Mckinney is the Executive Director of O Community Doulas and the founder of COMMUNi T app, a platform enhancing healthcare delivery, ECM services, community support, and human services. ✨ Niki Martinez serves as the Deputy Director at Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition, a statewide network addressing state-sanctioned violence against women and trans individuals impacted by incarceration. These leaders are creating real change in their communities, and we can’t wait to see the impact they’ll continue to make!
