We shared inspiring conversations on strategy, deepened our connections, and celebrated our 15th anniversary with cake 🎂 and a piñata! 🎉 So grateful for this passionate, dedicated team working toward gender justice every day. 💪

Lilly Ledbetter played a crucial role in paving the way towards gender equity in the workforce. Her recent passing marks the loss of an inspiring advocate, but her legacy continues in the fight for equal pay and the ongoing battle against gender discrimination.

🌍✨ Happy International Day of the Girl! ✨🌍 This year's theme is Girls’ Vision for the Future, which is always top of mind for us. Last week, in honor of this special day, we co-hosted The Power of Girls' Education and Leadership: A Spotlight on Africa. The event highlighted the urgent need to invest in girls' education and leadership as key drivers of gender equality, with five inspiring leaders from across Africa showing us what’s possible when girls lead. We had such an inspiring week in September meeting and spending time with the newest group of Rise Up Leaders in California! Here’s a glimpse of what 4 of these incredible visionaries shared about the start of their journey with us. ✨ Leticia Landa is the Executive Director of La Cocina - Nonprofit Kitchen Incubator , a nonprofit in San Francisco empowering immigrant women and women of color to formalize their food businesses.  ✨ Ashley Rojas is the Policy Director at Indigenous Justice, a statewide organization serving tribal communities across California. She focuses on gender-based violence, particularly within the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) crisis. ✨ Ithiopia Mckinney is the Executive Director of O Community Doulas and the founder of COMMUNi T app, a platform enhancing healthcare delivery, ECM services, community support, and human services. ✨ Niki Martinez serves as the Deputy Director at Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition, a statewide network addressing state-sanctioned violence against women and trans individuals impacted by incarceration. These leaders are creating real change in their communities, and we can’t wait to see the impact they’ll continue to make!

We’re excited for this upcoming conversation on how California’s evolving multiracial, democracy is advancing through grassroots mobilization. We’re especially looking forward to hearing from Rise Up Leader Onyemma O., who is championing intersectional, transformative legislation to secure the health and well-being of Black women and girls across the state.
