The Missouri University of Science and Technology campus was filled with excitement on Friday as students and faculty prepared for the weekend’s homecoming and football festivities. Enhancing the celebratory atmosphere, the university also celebrated a significant milestone with a beam signing ceremony for the new Welcome Center. Every October, all our locations come together for the annual company-wide quarterly meeting. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and catch up with colleagues we don’t see every day. This event also marks the exciting announcement of the GRIT award winner. Congratulations to this year’s GRIT award recipient, Travis Wellen, Superintendent. Happy Anniversary River City Construction! Out of the ashes of the collapsed V. Jobst & Sons construction company, six courageous individuals (Jim Barr, Don Brennan, Wynne Carter, Lu Ori, Joe West, and Jim Wendle, in partnership with Michael Cullinan and R.A. Cullinan & Sons) joined financial forces and started River City Construction in October 1984. They wanted to take a different approach from other companies in the industry. Not only would they build quality projects, they would also build lasting relationships with every client they worked with. Within the first two weeks of incorporation, River City Construction landed five projects, setting the stage for rapid growth and success. These early project ”wins” served as the catalyst for River City’s longest-standing client relationship, with Fortune 500 company Caterpillar, Inc. As River City Construction flourished, the company organically expanded to better support clients in remote locations. In 1992, the first regional office was opened in Benton, IL, followed by the opening of the Ashland, MO, office in 2004. Our latest addition was the O’Fallon, IL office in 2023. From its inception to the present, River City Construction remains true to its founding principles, emphasizing the importance of delivering top-tier projects with an unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction.
