  • 🚁 10 Insights from 120,000+ PX4 Drone Logs Collected in 2024 📊 We just wrapped up our largest analysis yet – ingesting all 123,227 publicly available PX4 Autopilot Flight Review logs from 2024 into Roboto! This dataset offers a fascinating snapshot of global PX4 activity, from top drone flying regions to the most common error messages. A few highlights: 🌍 China, South Korea, and USA dominate PX4 flights globally. 🇺🇸 California, Washington, and Texas have the most activity in the USA. 🇪🇺 Zürich (Switzerland) and Odense (Denmark) lead cities in Europe. 🦾 This was also an incredible stress test for Roboto – processing all these logs in just a couple of days! We’re only scratching the surface of what’s possible with large-scale log analysis. • 🤖 Get Your Robot Logs as DataFrames with Roboto SDK 🚀 As robotics engineers, we know how challenging it can be to work with large, complex robot logs – whether in rosbags, parquet files, or other formats. Extracting data often requires custom scripts, manual data unpacking, and a lot of time spent preparing the data for analysis. But what if there was a better way? 🤔 In our latest blog post, we show how the Roboto SDK lets you fetch topics from your robot logs directly into pandas DataFrames – speeding up analysis. We demonstrate this with a PX4 Autopilot case study, where we quickly analyze whether a drone flight suffered from magnetic interference. ✅ Why It Matters: ⚡ Speed – Fetch the specific data you need and skip tedious conversions. 🛠️ Productivity – Turn complex robot logs into easy-to-use DataFrames. 🔗  Extensibility – Leverage the pandas ecosystem for advanced analysis. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/g2zKJbaf Let’s make robotics data analysis faster and easier! #robotics #pandas #dataframes #ros #px4 #datascience

🤖 Turn Robot Logs into Actionable Insights with Roboto! 🚀 📡 How often has our drone lost contact with ground control this year? 🛡️ How often did we cross geofence boundaries? 📈 What’s the max CPU load for all flights running software branch: master? 🌡️ How does the accelerometer temperature vary across hardware? Questions like these are critical for tracking performance and diagnosing issues in any fleet of robots. But aggregating metrics from robot logs is challenging—data volume, multimodality, and specialized formats like #rosbag and #ulg can make it tough. We recently ingested 1,000 PX4 Autopilot drone flights from the public Flight Review website to answer questions like these using the Roboto SDK. Check out our open source notebook and try it with your own logs! Fun fact: Our analysis revealed the top 20 PX4 hardware versions, with PX4_SITL (Software in the Loop simulation) as the second most common—showcasing the heavy use of simulations alongside real hardware. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gSfbRXwS #robotics #drones #px4 #metrics Dronecode Foundation

  • 🚀 Robot logs are filled with insights, but finding interesting patterns in vast, multimodal data often feels like searching for a needle in a haystack 🔎 📈 🤦♀️    At #ROSCon2024, we showed how Roboto's SDK simplifies log analysis, making it easy to extract slices of data for pattern matching. With minimal code, you can quickly retrieve events like hard landings in drone flights or unusual spikes in motor currents—and much more. Missed the demo? Check out our latest blog post for details and try our open-source notebook to find patterns in your own logs. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gVUU6usP Open Robotics #robotics #drones #dataanalysis #ros #ros2 #px4

🌟 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘔𝘺 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘙𝘖𝘚𝘊𝘰𝘯 2024! 🌟 Two weeks ago, I attended ROSCon 2024 by Open Robotics, and it was packed with valuable insights and inspiration. Here are a few moments that really stood out: 🔍 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 The Clearpath Robotics Workshop was an absolute goldmine! The session on multi-server setups featured a hands-on, step-by-step approach that simplified the complexities of scaling our systems. I got practical support in troubleshooting and integrating ID, client, and server IPs across different environments. We validated these methods for both local and remote ROS 2 Discovery Servers. Their GitHub repo is packed with resources and gave me new ideas for our GNSS data communication setup. I also enjoyed talking with Marcus Laferriere from Clearpath Robotics by Rockwell Automation about recent advancements in outdoor robotics for industrial applications. His insights into Clearpath's innovations were inspiring and practical. For anyone interested, I highly recommend the workshops from Clearpath and Zenoh for learning about remote multi-device interactions—perfect if you’re working on real-time visualization or data integration like I am. 💡 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 I was also deeply inspired by the medical ROS talk given by Deanna Hood, MSc from Vexev. Her work on using SLAM for surgical reconstruction and autonomous vessel scanning is truly groundbreaking. It resonates with my own research in a related field—enhancing visualization of micro-vessels through signal denoising. It’s always thrilling to see the latest advancements in this field making their way into real-world robotics applications. 🎓 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 The talks at ROSCon were packed with insights that I’m definitely bringing back to my projects. From executor design and simulation to Nav2 docking and data monitoring, each session added something new to think about. Seeing these concepts come together provides a clear roadmap that’s going to be invaluable as we continue developing and scaling our systems. ✨ 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 Big thanks to Alf Olsen and the O-Robotics team for making this experience possible! And to my awesome colleagues Jens Peter Klange and Sylvester Milé, thanks for exploring every booth with me and sticking around for my endless questions ;) Also great to know there are a lot of open-source tools and platforms (like ZettaScale Technology and Roboto AI, check out their amazing products)! Sooner the video and slides from the ROScon will be uploaded on roscon.ros.org/2024/
