The festivities will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., starting with networking, appetizers, and refreshments, followed by the awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Each award recipient will be honored with a special video tribute. This year, we are excited to present entrepreneurial awards to Dr. Andre Terzic and Dr. Atta Behfar, co-founders of RION; Francisco Lopez, founder of Lopez and Sons Construction and owner of La Michoacana Purepecha Ice Cream Shop; and Michelle Hamilton, founder of Dandelion Naturals. We will also honor Benike Construction with the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing the company’s 87 years of excellence since its founding by Alvin E. Benike. The Southeast Minnesota Small Business Development Center - SBDC held it's first ALL Spanish workshop on September 16th in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Instructor Juliana Silva presented on "Finding your first customers and sell without being salesy." RAEDI is the host organization for the SBDC, located in the RAEDI Economic Development Center (EDC) on the 6th floor of the Minnesota BioBusiness Center. The Spanish workshop series is being co-sponsored by Altra Federal Credit Union, Alliance of Chicanos, Hispanics, and Latin Americans (ACHLA), Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The next workshop will take place on September 21st from 10 a.m. - noon at the EDC on financial literacy.

Thanks to all who attended RAEDI's Communities' Council Workforce Housing Round Table event today in Byron. We had a couple of great discussions including a communities panel with representatives from the cities of Byron, Kasson, Chatfield, Stewartville, Plainview, and Pine Island. The afternoon panel included a group of builders/developers including Mike Paradise from Bigelow Homes LLC, Jamie Judisch from Noble Development, Aaron Thompson from the The Design Connection, and Hal Henderson from HGA. Special thanks to our sponsors, MBT Bank, Rochester Area Builders, and the Coalition for Rochester Area Housing, for supporting this event, and to JoMarie Morris from the Coalition for Rochester Area Housing for giving a keynote address.
