  • Thank you to everyone who came out and braved the weather on Monday at our annual Sunshine Camp Golf Invitational at Midvale Country Club. Your participation helps send over 2,500 children and adults with disabilities to our fully accessible camp every summer free of charge. A special thanks to our volunteers who helped keep our golfers hydrated and fed out on course! We would also like to thank our generous sponsors who helped make this tournament possible.

"No matter where you move you always have to bring yourself with ya" This week on Timeout with Leaders, Tyler White and I sit down with Tracey Dreisbach, Executive Director of Rochester Rotary Club (NY). We knew we were in for a real treat when Tracey logged into Zoom! Listen to the full podcast here: https://lnkd.in/gjzq9p7W Tracey's story is a testament to the power of following your passion and embracing authenticity. From her early realization that she was meant to help others to her impactful leadership at the Rochester Rotary Club (NY) since 1997, Tracey's journey is one of purpose, perspective and dedication. Growing up around someone living with a disability taught Tracey the importance of accessibility, belonging, and equity, shaping her thoughts on life and leadership. With over 355 members in the Rochester Rotary, Tracey views each of them as a boss, emphasizing the significance of leading with authenticity to earn respect and support. This was not a title she had ever envisioned but became more confident in her abilities to lead others as well as an organization focused on good business over time. It wasn't something she would be GIVEN, but knew she WANTED and deserved but would have to EARN. This brought me to thinking about the stark difference between WANT and EARN, just because we WANT something doesn't mean we are entitled to have it. Sometimes we are impatient and believe we deserve something, despite not having to work hard to earn it. If we have this mindset we are more likely like Tracey Dreisbach to TRY more, despite being outside our comfort zone, leading to innovation, creativity, and engagement of all involved. Tracey's leadership philosophy is grounded in grace, trust-building, and compassion, both for herself and others. She understands the value of earning trust, not just titles, to deliver impactful experiences, such as those at Camp Good Days & Special Times. Despite the demands of her role, Tracey prioritizes self-care, recognizing its role in reinvigorating her team and fostering innovation, while also modeling the way for her employees. Listen in as Tracey shares her insights on leadership, teamwork, and the pursuit of making a difference in the lives of others. You too can discover how to lead with authenticity and create positive change in your business, home, and community. #leadership #Rotary #CEO #RochesterNY #Culture

  • We had the honor of presenting our 22nd Annual Henry H. Jensen Memorial Award to Lieutenant Bing C. Reaves Jr. and our 2nd Annual Above and Beyond Service Award to Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Thurston at our Annual Law Day Luncheon. Deputy Chief Henry H. Jensen had two main loves, Rochester Rotary Club and the Rochester Police Department. He was appointed to the Department in 1936. In 1962 he was appointed Executive Deputy Chief. Henry was an Honorary Member of Rochester Rotary from 1947 until his passing. He is a recipient of the Club’s Rotary Award, the oldest civic award in Rochester. Upon his passing, Mr. Jensen bequeathed a gift to the Rochester Rotary Charitable Trusts, Inc. in memory of his wife, Dorothy. He designated that an appropriate award be presented to one of Rochester Police Department’s “unsung heroes”. Lt. Bing C Reaves Jr was born and raised in the City of Rochester and attended Monroe Community College where he earned his degree in criminal justice. As a young adult Lt. Reaves worked for the Rochester City School District and the City of Rochester Recreation Department. He has served with the Rochester Police Department for 18 years. Since joining the Rochester Police Department Lt. Reaves has been certified as a physical fitness instructor, defensive tactics instructor, firearms instructor, and a domestic violence instructor. H He takes great pride in being a positive example to both the community and to his coworkers for being someone who grew up in the City of Rochester and has a successful career in law enforcement. The candidate of the Above and Beyond Service Award must be involved in civic relations and community service, be serving with great commitment, distinction, compassion, courage, character, and integrity; uphold the highest performance and ethical standard of the Department and be considered one of the unsung heroes of daily police performance. Deputy Thurston grew up in Cayuga, NY located a few miles away from the north end of Cayuga Lake. He attended Union Springs Junior Senior High School, class of about 70 people. He then went on and attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Dantona Beach Florida for two years. In 1999 he started working at the Rochester Psychiatric Center here in Rochester as a Safety and Security Officer. In 2003 Deputy Thurston began working for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in the Jail Bureau. From there in 2007 he attended the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Academy and was assigned to C-Zone afternoons. After approximately six or seven years he transferred to A-Zone Days. In his current assignment he is the Community Engagement Deputy for A-Zone which covers Penfield, Perinton and Pittsford. He has two sons, Alex who currently attends Alfred University majoring in business and finance and plays football for the Saxons and Aedan who is a sophomore at Webster Thomas High School and plays football for the Titans.
