Fueling the Dream one community at a time!
Yesterday's Buffalo Open Coffee Club meetup was nothing short of extraordinary! It was heartwarming to see 37 of us gathered in the lobby at Seneca One building, ready to connect and learn from one another. A special highlight of the day was the presence of Don Jones a Verite Fund Managing Partner whose knowledge and expertise delighted us all. Special guests like Don bring invaluable insights to our community, reminding us of the endless opportunities for growth and learning as entrepreneurs. A special shout-out to RocketCup Coffee and MacKenzie Bush for supplying us with their freshly brewed coffee! The coffee kept us fueled and energized throughout the morning, we can't wait to have them join us again. Your contribution added to the warmth and camaraderie of our gathering, and we deeply appreciate your support. BOCC is more than just a networking event—it's an opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, founders, small business owners, influencers, students and investors. It's a platform for building lasting relationships, engaging in meaningful conversations, and collaborating on innovative ideas. When you consider what BOCC is all about, joining us at 7:30 am makes perfect sense. This is more than networking; it's about building a supportive community and fostering lifelong friendships. Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday, and let's continue to thrive together as a community!! *Join us every Tuesday from 7:30 am - 9:00 am at Seneca One building. #coffee #BOCC #morethannetworking #buildingcommunity #tuesday

Clinical Associate Professor Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, University at Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine, UBMD,
There are some medical problems that nobody cares enough about, to change the current treatment paradigm. Perhaps the profit margin is not immediately apparent. Perhaps the number of people affected by the condition is too small to “move the needle” for a for-profit business. Maybe the solution is not amenable to a marketable product. One of the reasons that I support the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Foundation (ASESF) is that I believe they support ventures that may not be immediately profitable but are important anyway. I will give an example. A few years ago, my team and I performed some research that got some attention on a not-so-sexy topic: shoulder infection. https://lnkd.in/eWrim2g9. We examined different antibiotics and how they worked in situations when shoulder implants were infected. This is one of those problems that affects a relatively small and challenging portion of the population, that is typically not amenable to some simple, marketable solution. After our first study we wanted to go further. We applied for and received the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Peri Prosthetic Joint Infection (ASES PJI) grant (a mouthful I know). I believe that this is one of those times when this type of study would not have been funded without an organization such as the ASESF. The members of the ASESF understand this problem on a deep level. They know the importance of projects like this that may have long term impact on a small but challenging patient group. For this reason, I feel indebted to the ASESF. They have helped propel us toward further research results and into larger funding for the next legs of our research that ultimately should improve treatments for these problems. Supporting the National Shoulder and Elbow Week (NSEW) event will help support these types of projects in the future. Funding will open the door for more researchers to attack thorny, sometimes overlooked shoulder and elbow problems so YOU can live comfortably. Join us today by donating to NSEW. We have one week until our event on May 17. We have set a local goal to raise $25,000 this week at the Buffalo site. Help us reach that goal so that YOU and members of your community can sleep and live more comfortably without the nagging menace of shoulder or elbow pain.
