The Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia team and First Up held a family literacy night this month that included an evening of reading, singing, talking, and playing with local pediatric clinicians and young kiddos in Germantown! We also had the pleasure of Shante' Brown, OCDEL Deputy Secretary joining us. Thank you Tiffany Thorpe-Kelly, Rachel Camacho, PHMC Health Network Rising Sun and Einstein Healthcare Network Medical Center for helping to make this event a success!

A few weeks ago, we gathered for the Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia Annual Regional Conference, both in person and online. We heard from the Reach Out and Read National Center and discussed our RORGP updates. We presented the Jane K. Koppelman Award for Service to the Community, to the Center for the Urban Child (picture 2.) The Center for the Urban Child, in their passion for Reach Out and Read and beyond, embodies the spirit of service to the community. We are incredibly grateful to our Community Panel: Jacqueline Baker, CRNP-CP, CEN, Health Annex; Keri Duggan, CRNP, MSN, Esperanza Health Center; Hans B. Kersten, MD, FAAP, Center for the Urban Child at SCHC; Adam Raphael Rom, MD , GPHA Southeast Health Center; and Daniel Taylor, DO, FAAP, Center for the Urban Child at SCHC. We had a great discussion and were so appreciative of their insights and work within their local neighborhoods.

We had a great time at Reading Promise Week! We hosted our first event with the amazing docs at St. Chris, with literacy stations including finger puppets, scarves, maracas, and other fun activities. And we were able to share information and books about Reach Out and Read at many events around Philly.
