We’re wrapping up our 2024 summer internship program, where Ben, Nicole, and Mike have brought their passion for landscaping to R.P. Marzilli. When we asked them to reflect on the season, a resounding theme emerged – the unparalleled value of real-world experience. It's a sentiment that underscores the rich possibilities and rewards that come with choosing a career in this industry. At the heart of our commitment to education in landscaping is our founder, Bob Marzilli, whose unwavering dedication to nurturing talent and fostering career opportunities in this field is paramount. Each year, we are energized by the enthusiasm we witness in students as we visit various universities. Stay tuned for our upcoming fall tour, where our team will be making stops at institutions like Penn State, URI, Williamson, and SUNY Cobleskill. A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to Ben, Nicole, and Mike for their achievements this summer. We look forward to the prospect of welcoming you back to our team upon graduation!

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Maine Summer Social: Celebrate the Second Summer of Spatial Design hosted by the BSLA/Boston Society of Landscape Architects. Graciously held at Thornton Tomasetti in Portland, Maine. This two-week summer intensive hosted by BSLA and PSA (the Portland Society for Architecture), AIA Maine, and the University of Southern Maine, introduces students to fundamentals of design of the built environment. Look + Learn + Draw Place. This program is open to all ages - from rising juniors + seniors in high school to currently enrolled college + university students, to life-long learners. Students receive college credits, and the program is also open to life-long learners 65+! Giving students an introduction to landscape architecture and architecture program. It is always inspiring and reinvigorating to see our youth and the future candidates of our Landscaping world! Biggest take away from that evening, there is no right or wrong path to chasing what you want, especially to becoming a Landscape Architect! We have some bright stars in the making and I am excited to see what this group will do. "Learn to see the world differently!" We were honored to welcome our esteemed fellow landscape professionals from Milosi and Ground Works Land Design to our headquarters in Medway this week! The two-day visit was a wonderful opportunity for us to engage in enlightening discussions, forge strong connections, and explore our job sites. Our team is passionate about cultivating connections in our industry and continuously learning from our peers. A big thanks to the teams at Milosi and Ground Works for their support of the National Association of Landscape Professionals Foundation, which made this visit possible.

  • Last month, we were honored to attend the opening of Spring Park in Newport, Rhode Island. We had the privilege of being recognized as a contributor in the improvement of the park's natural splendor, which is named after a freshwater spring that served as the city's origin in the 17th century. Our appreciation goes out to everyone involved in making this day possible. This project is a source of immense pride for us, as it will offer a lasting gathering place for future generations to enjoy, highlighting the community's commitment to respecting the environment and the history of Newport. In his dedication speech, Ron Henderson, Founding Principal and Director of Design at LIRIO Landscape Architecture, remarked, "Inscribed in the park is an excerpt of the text from the Records of the Colony of Rhode Island, dated 16 March 1939: It is agreed and ordered that this south west end of the island shall be called Newport … and that the towne shall be built upon both sides of the spring, and by the sea-side southward.""

  • Unexpectedly tie dye! This snow pea from Row 7s Seeds gave the Botanica Land Care Team a colorful surprise recently when instead of growing green or purple, they came out mixed. Our team loves finding unique fruits, flowers, and veggies for your garden. Seeds from Dan Barber's Row 7 Seeds Co., Sweet Wave Snow Pea Blend.
