We recently received a generous donation of 3,408 pounds of nuts and snacks from Sacramento-based Blue Diamond. We're grateful to be able to provide these nutritious, locally grown items to our community. We're so appreciative of Blue Diamond Growers' donations and continued support. California ranks among the bottom five states when it comes to reaching eligible individuals through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also called CalFresh. That's why we're so appreciative of Kaiser Permanente for allowing us to spread the word about CalFresh via social media advertising! With their generous funding, we've been able to inform and educate hundreds of thousands of Sacramento County residents about this effective anti-hunger program. - Kathryn Boyle Brian Heller de Leon

Don used to work as a computer programmer, but his arthritis made it too painful to continue that line of work. Now, Don is working to build a music career and a better life for himself. The food he gets at Joey’s Food Locker, one of our amazing partner agencies, helps supplement his CalFresh benefits so that he can focus on his work instead of his hunger. “Food insecurity takes up a lot of your brain," he told us. "So, this is extremely helpful for me because now I can go do my work knowing that I have food to eat and not have to constantly be thinking about where it’s going to come from.” To nourish your neighbors like Don, make a gift today by visiting sacramentofoodbank.org.

As the food bank for Sacramento County, we support a network of more than 135 pantries, community meal sites, schools, senior centers and nonprofit organizations. Did you know that, beyond providing our partners with food at no cost, we also offer potential retail pairing opportunities with local stores for grocery recovery? Listen to this clip from Pastor Joyner at St. Paul Church of God in Christ, who shares a little bit more about how SFBFS has positively impacted their ability to serve those in need in their community. It'd be impossible to meet the enormous demand for food assistance without this collaboration between SFBFS and our partner agencies. Thank you for your partnership, Pastor Joyner!
