In honor of Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re proud to share the story of Dr. Bexi Lobo. 🌟 After being diagnosed with Sjogren's, an autoimmune disease that causes dysautonomia and affects the body’s glands leading to severe skin dryness, among other symptoms, Bexi founded Bexi's Bespoke Revitalisation to create skincare solutions and healing for herself and others with similar experiences. Now as she continues to grow her clientele, she’s also empowering disabled entrepreneurs through HIDDEN (Hidden Illness & Disability Directory of Entrepreneurs & Nurturers), a platform for business owners with non-visible disabilities to showcase their products and services. With guidance from Sacramento Valley SBDC business advisor Panda Morgan and our Women & Numbers Financial Management Series, Bexi gained the financial insights and strategies needed to expand her operations and, more importantly, her impact! In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re spotlighting Alicia Gonzalez, Brenda Sizer, and Gerardo Ramirez who turned a shared vision into reality with Ohana Hawaiian Shaved Ice. With a focus on island-inspired treats, their business has become a staple at fairs across Northern California. 🍧💫 Starting out, the trio reached out to Sacramento Valley SBDC for guidance on business planning, legal structure, and permits. With personalized advice from business advisor Macy Yang, they launched their LLC, obtained the necessary licenses, and invested in their mobile food setup. Today, Ohana Hawaiian Shaved Ice is thriving, having successfully entered nine community fairs, including the 2024 California State Fair! Alicia reflects, "With the assistance of SBDC, we navigated the start-up process with confidence." Click here to keep reading more of their story: https://lnkd.in/gHAyKE33
