Several Sam Houston EC employees left their homes and loved ones two weeks ago to assist with restoration efforts in Georgia following the destructive Hurricane Helene. They safely arrived back home last night and we are thankful to have them back. We are forever grateful for their sacrifice to help those in need. #CooperativeDifference

As Hurricane Helene makes its way towards the eastern part of the country, Sam Houston EC line crews are headed in the same direction to assist with restoration efforts at Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation. Our selfless and dedicated linemen will join up with other cooperative crews and contractors to quickly and safely restore power to those affected by the hurricane, just as other cooperatives came to Sam Houston EC's aid this summer following Hurricane Beryl. Cooperation Among Cooperatives is one of the most important cooperative principles, and Sam Houston EC is proud to answer the call of those in need.

The voltage conversion project near Willis has been completed. We appreciate the patience of our members while the upgrades were completed. We also commend our employees for a job completed safely and on-schedule! Voltage conversions are cost-effective projects that increase the usable life span of power lines and enable the Co-op to redirect the flow of electricity during outages.

It has been a busy summer! Sam Houston EC recently donated backpacks to Livingston Creekside Elementary School for their safety program. Thank you to the Love & Learning Academy for delivering thank you notes, food and more to our linemen in Coldspring. With back-to-school season here, we hope everyone has a fantastic and safe year!

Sharing electrical safety information with our youngest East Texans is incredibly important. Co-op employees presented earlier this summer to 4th graders at the Coldspring Fairgrounds. If you want to learn more about electrical safety, visit https://lnkd.in/g4e5c26R

Thank you to Bandera Electric Cooperative, CoServ, Central Texas Electric Cooperative, Inc., United Cooperative Services, Comanche Electric Cooperative - CECA, Grayson Collin Electric Cooperative, Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation and the many others who have sent linemen to East Texas to help restore power to our members. Over 1,000 linemen, contractors, and vegetation management crews from Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma and other states are working across our area. Crews have now restored to 24,000 members following Hurricane Beryl tearing through our area. Some transmission was lost last night which caused some members in Walker and San Jacinto Counties who had service restored earlier to lose it again. Crews are working to restore these areas now. The most updated information is available on our outage map: https://lnkd.in/gGBmRpW6.
