The City of Stockton held a ribbon cutting for a crosswalk that is part of its California Street Diet project on Thursday. The project will enhance safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. It is funded in part by Measure K, the half-cent sales tax administered by the San Joaquin Council of Governments for transportation projects in San Joaquin County. The California Street Diet project includes bike lanes and other pedestrian and bicycle safety features to improve safety along the California Street corridor. #MeasureK #transportation #crosswalk #diet

About us
The San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG), created in 1968, is responsible for the transportation policy development, planning, and programming for the County of San Joaquin and the cities of Stockton, Lodi, Manteca, Tracy, Ripon, Escalon, and Lathrop in California. SJCOG serves as the Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA) and Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for San Joaquin County and provides a forum for regional decision-making on issues such as growth, transportation, environmental management, housing, open space, air quality, fiscal management, and economic development. One of the main roles of SJCOG is the administration of the Measure K program. Measure K is a voter approved, half-cent sales tax for transportation projects in the San Joaquin region. In place since 1990, it has financed numerous highway expansions, pedestrian-friendly projects, bike paths, and local road improvements throughout San Joaquin County. It has generated millions in new revenues for rail and public transit networks. During the 50-year life of the program, more than $3.5 billion will be generated and distributed among highway, transit, and local road projects. SJCOG functions under a committee structure comprised of the Board of Directors (Board), the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the Management and Finance Committee (M&F), and various advisory committees.

The San Joaquin Regional Transit District on Wednesday unveiled five new hydrogen fuel cell electric buses as it continues to expand its zero-emissions fleet. These are the first in the region. Measure K and the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement program, both administered by the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) Board of Directors for the region, helped fund the buses. Lathrop Mayor and SJCOG Board Chair Sonny Dhaliwal spoke during the event. Also in attendance were SJCOG Boardmembers Leo Zuber, mayor of Ripon; Nancy Young, mayor of Tracy; and Michael Blower, Stockton city councilmember; and alternate Boardmember Dan Wright, Stockton city councilmember. #hydrogen #electricbuses #buses #publictransit #MeasureK #CMAQ #zero-emissions

Congratulations to the Lodi Mayor and San Joaquin Council of Governments Boardmember Lisa Craig on Lodi’s achievements in the year she has been mayor. She highlighted those gains and plans for the future, and recognized Lodi’s female leaders during the annual State of the City address sponsored by the Lodi Chamber of Commerce. Eventgoers heard from a panel that included Nancy Beckman, former CEO of Visit Lodi; Tara Stewart, of Vintage Church and Love Lodi; Judy Peterson, of Pret; and Monica Valenzuela, of Super Tortas Chilangas. They also heard from Lodi Police Department Sgt. Regan Porteous, a Lodi native and the first female member of the Lodi Police Department SWAT team. #Lodi #Lodimayor #StateoftheCity #achievements #LodiChamber #LodiChamberofCommerce

We've got some exciting things happening at SJCOG!
Help the San Joaquin Council of Governments shape its Regional Mobility Hub Plan by taking our survey: bit.ly/MobilityHubSurvey. Take it today! SJCOG is working on a Regional Mobility Hub Plan that will review existing and planned land use, current structures and facilities, and programs in housing priority zones to create a blueprint for mobility hubs and enriching the county’s transportation network. The plan will also include creating a mobility hub with input from stakeholder agencies. Mobility hubs combine public transit, shared mobility, pedestrian infrastructure, and other amenities to create accessible, efficient, and equitable transportation options for all. SJCOG’s Regional Mobility Hub Plan will guide the implementation of a mobility hub network throughout the region to improve multi-modal connectivity and reduce vehicle miles traveled. #MobilityHub #survey #publictransit #sharedmobility #pedestrian #accessible #equitable #transportationoption #transportation #mobility

Thank you to Manteca Mayor and San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) Boardmember Gary Singh for a successful year chairing the Megaregion Working Group. Representatives from SJCOG, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission policy boards make up the Megaregion Working Group and rotate each year in leading it. Together they promote the Megaregion Dozen package of projects that have interregional significance. During Boardmember Singh’s time as chair, two of the Megaregion Dozen projects received funding and the working group OK’d two replacement projects. SJCOG, as the lead agency for the past year, also led a successful trip to the state Capitol to advocate for the Megaregion Dozen. #MegaregionWorkingGroup #MegaregionDozen #Megaregion #SACOG #MTC #advocacy #transportation #SJCOG
