State Attorney Andrew Bain recently joined Florida State Representatives Johanna López and Susan Plasencia for a tour of local Department of Juvenile Justice facilities, including DJJ’s Great Oaks Village, the Detention Center and the Orange County Youth Academy. Together, they assessed facility needs and discussed resources vital for supporting youth rehabilitation and community safety. This visit highlighted our shared commitment to finding the right resources to support youth and keep our communities safe.

An Orange County jury found Sarah Boone guilty of Second Degree Murder for zipping her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, inside a suitcase and leaving him to die. She will be sentenced on Dec. 2. Read more: https://buff.ly/3YDJVoe

We had a great time connecting with the community this Halloween season! Our team handed out candy at our annual Candy in the Courtyard event in Osceola County and brought circus-themed fun to the trunk-or-treat at the Grand Avenue Neighborhood Center. Everybody knows someone impacted by domestic violence. Intimate partner violence alone affects more than 12 million people every year. During our “Voices of Hope” event Lisa Thiombiano with Stand Up Survivor shared her own experience as a survivor, giving hope to others to seek help and say enough is enough. #DomesticViolenceAwareness #VoicesofHope
