Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site, donated $5,000 to the University of South Carolina Aiken to assist veterans transitioning from the military to college and into the civilian workforce. SRMC and USCA established its alliance that creates a potential employment pipeline through the University’s Office of Veteran and Military Student Success (VMSS) by providing an internship or employment for these students. It’s #NationalHBCUWeek! SRMC is working with a record number of eight Historically Black Colleges and Universities (#HBCU) to build career pipelines. Four of those institutions –Allen University, Benedict College, Claflin University, and South Carolina State University – all opened new doors for their students by partnering to solve real-world problems for SRMC. The seven capstone projects undertaken by the students not only gave them a new appreciation for the work they may encounter in the future, but also provided the Company with an opportunity to see the students work in a year-long interview for an opportunity for future employment.
