Mark Fields, Group President, Project Execution, closed the Fluor Supply Chain Summit, thanking the participants, recognizing this year’s beneficiaries, and emphasizing the value of collaboration as we navigate changes to the supply chain landscape. As Mark shared, supplier diversity is a key component of building a better supply chain. Fluor surpassed its target of 25 percent of U.S. supplier commitments with diverse suppliers and contractors by the end of 2023, reaching 33 percent. Fluor is proud to partner with this year’s beneficiaries as they provide education, certification and development opportunities for small, diverse and minority business enterprises. While there have been global supply chain challenges, Fluor believes the future is bright. Remaining agile and lean will allow for further opportunities, and communication and collaboration is essential to delivering value for our clients and stakeholders. #BuildingABetterWorld #FluorSupplyChainSummit #SupplyChain

Raj Desai, Chief Procurement Officer, shared a market update this morning at the Fluor Supply Chain Summit. Supply chain uncertainty is expected to persist into 2025. Deteriorating geopolitics include risk of conflict escalation, particularly in the Russia/Ukraine and Israel-Hamas conflicts, as well as competition for control of the ocean where four key chokepoints controlling over half of global trade have become more vulnerable to disruption. Stricter regulations, rising dependence on critical minerals and cyber-attacks are all contributing factors. Despite uncertainty, supply chain growth has stabilized and is expected to grow into 2025. Agile and resilient supply chain will enable us to transform uncertainty into opportunity. We can do this through resilience and agility in the face of unforeseen challenges, engaging stakeholders early, diversifying suppliers, strengthening relationships, leveraging clean energy demand and investing in cybersecurity resilience. #BuildingABetterWorld #FluorSupplyChainSummit #SupplyChain

Fluor is pleased to share that natural gas was recently introduced to the LNG Canada export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. Flaring, the carefully controlled and regulated combustion of natural gas with a visible flame, represents a significant achievement for the Fluor-led joint venture project team, along with JGC, and is required for commissioning of the hydrocarbon systems. "This is a major development and integral to the plant’s controlled start-up,” said Pierre Bechelany, President of Fluor’s LNG and Power business line. “It ensures that the facility operates safely and efficiently as designed.” #BuildingABetterWorld

Last Thursday, Year 4 of the Carbon to Value (C2V) Initiative kicked off, gathering this year’s C2V team and the Carbontech Leadership Council in person to discuss activities for the next several months and to introduce the cohort of 9 start-ups. Each start-up gave a lightning pitch during the evening’s ceremony describing their company and technology. See a summary of the 9 companies in the cohort: https://lnkd.in/gih4d3sv C2V strategically aligns with Fluor’s decarbonization efforts and commitment to sustainability. The multi-year initiative leverages corporate involvement and incubation services to drive the acceleration of carbontech innovations that capture and/or convert CO2 into valuable end products or services. Fluor has been part of C2V and a member of its Carbontech Leadership Council since 2021, mentoring dozens of companies since the initiative’s launch and cultivating business partnerships that last beyond the program. Curt Graham (SVP, Office of Technology) is Fluor’s executive sponsor for the program, with James Shih (Executive Director, Business Incubation) and Sunil Vyas (Technical Director, Business Incubation) leading the efforts supporting C2V. ANNOUNCING: the nine startups selected for Year 4 of the #C2VInitiative! 🔸 Ardent is a process technology company that is developing membrane-based solutions for point-source carbon capture and other chemical separations. 🔸 CarbonBlue develops a chemical process that mineralizes and extracts CO2 from water, which then reabsorbs more atmospheric CO2. 🔸 MacroCycle Technologies develops a chemical recycling process to turn polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyester-fiber waste into “virgin-grade” plastics. 🔸 Maple Materials develops an electrolysis process to convert CO2 into graphite and oxygen. 🔸 Oxylus Energy develops a direct electrochemical process to convert CO2 into fuels and chemical feedstocks, such as methanol. 🔸 Phlair develops a renewable-energy-powered Direct Air Capture (DAC) system using an electrochemical process for acid and base generation. Secant Fuel develops a one-step electrocatalytic process that converts flue gas into syngas. 🔸 RenewCO₂ is developing an electrochemical process to convert CO2 into fuels and chemicals, such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or propylene glycol. 🔸 Seabound builds carbon-capture equipment for new and existing ships. Over this six-month accelerator, which is designed to advance the startups’ commercialization efforts and de-risk their #carbontech innovations, the cohort will gain access to the Carbontech Leadership Council and other resources valuable to their growth. You can meet the cohort at the Year 4 Kickoff Event on Sept. 19: https://lnkd.in/edgk9AgP Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/eNbMasak Urban Future Lab Fraunhofer USA Inc.
