Good news to improve learning during disaster! BOR, SOUTH SUDAN: On Friday 1st November, Save the Children South Sudan and the State Ministry of Education in Bor handed over 120 learning tablets to St. Andrew Nursery and Primary School. The tablets explore different learning platforms and were tested in over 116 countries worldwide, loaded with academic contents for various levels of studies. Save the Children’s Education in Emergencies work supports children affected by insecurity and natural disasters by providing child-friendly learning spaces, providing teaching materials and recreation kits, and working with communities to ensure children’s education is not disrupted. Targeting vulnerable communities and students, the tablets help in continuous learning in times of disaster such as flooding or disease outbreak. In 2023, Save the Children reached 70,000 children with education support, including the young mothers, to close the estimated gap of approximately 2.8 million children and adolescents out of school children in South Sudan.
