🌊 Proud Moment for Sea Engineering! We're thrilled to highlight our Vice President, Chris Conger, who recently presented at the Coffman Engineers Sustainability and Resiliency in Engineering Series. Chris delivered an insightful presentation on "Inundation Modeling for Different Sea Level Rise Elevations," showcasing his deep expertise in understanding the physical drivers of sea level rise. By demonstrating how these forces impact wave patterns, flood depths, and coastal areas, Chris emphasized the critical role of accurate modeling in supporting Pacific coastal stakeholders' decision-making across various planning horizons. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended, including planners, engineers, government employees, and realtors. Thank you for being a part of this important conversation as we continue to explore and address the challenges posed by climate change and sea level rise. Sea Engineering, Inc. is appreciative of our opportunities to work alongside the amazing folks at the County of Kauai. Teammates like Alan help make work both fun and exciting!
When you still don't know how to smile for a camera... I enjoy GIS but not in a maniacal sense, I promise. 😅 Thanks to Esri for recognizing the work of the County of Kauaʻi with a Special Achievement in GIS Award for the adoption, implementation, and deployment of the Sea Level Rise Constraint District. Bringing predictive models into a regulatory framework can be a slippery slope, but we are hopeful that we are on the right track and excited for future work in this space to prepare Kauai for the hazards of the 21st century. We are extremely grateful to our extended partners at the Climate Resilience Collaborative from the University of Hawaii, University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program, Sea Engineering, Inc., and SSFM International for helping to shepherd this effort along over the past couple of years. Extra special thanks are in order to Garrett Johnson, Garrett Gee, Anneka, Imkamp, and Michael Weeks-Johnson for maintaining, sustaining, and contributing to the County of Kauai GIS program and creating the platform that allows me to play with all the fun GIS toys!!
