Today, social media use by children is nearly universal and it is increasingly dominating how they communicate. Up to 95% of youth ages 13–17 report using a social media platform, with more than a third saying they use social media “almost constantly.”  Social media provides children a creative outlet and a space for self-expression and for those leading the effort in school safety, evidence indicates that social media can also provide an opportunity for intervention before a crisis occurs.
