Following the commitments announced earlier this year, we are excited to officially announce the first close of Seedstars Africa Ventures I at $42mn with leading investors including the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the African Development Bank Group. It's been a long journey, but we haven't stayed inactive and have achieved quite a lot! The Fund has already deployed $10mn and this official closing will allow us to continue on our mission to invest in talented early stage African entrepreneurs who will be joining a portfolio that includes Beacon Power Services, poa! internet, Shamba Pride, Bizao | Payment hub in Africa and Xeno. We are thankful to our shareholder LBO France who anchored the fund and Seedstars for helping us strengthen the continuum of capital across Africa. Africa's power sector faces unique challenges, and BPS is addressing them head-on with powerful tools like CAIMS and ADORA, which leverage AI to digitize grid management and provide real-time operational insights. These solutions are not only improving power reliability but also boosting revenues for utilities, with notable impact already seen in Ghana. The goal set to have reliable and clean electricity for everyone just got much closer today 🌍.
