Trump's Lead Over Kamala in Betting Markets is Likely Impacting Financial Markets The US election is a little over a week away and betting markets continue to slightly favor Donald Trump against Kamala Harris. This also means financial markets have been slowly factoring in what fiscal policy could look like for the economy. By extension, this could have a meaningful impact on how the Federal Reserve proceeds with monetary policy next year with inflation still running above target with relatively low unemployment. Gold Prices Rise Despite Stronger Dollar, AEM Stock Up ~30% Since July Gold prices have surged despite a stronger US Dollar of late. Typically, the anti-fiat yellow metal tends to trade inversely to the Greenback. What gives? It seems financial markets might be focusing on Presidential Election probability markets. On October 9th, PredictIt showed that Donald Trump overtook Kamala Harris. That was also when gold resumed its rally, likely the result of traders focusing on future US fiscal policy expectations. In July, our Quant Team highlighted Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM) - the 3rd largest gold producer globally. Since then, the stock has rallied 30%. Read the article here: https://bit.ly/3UmegVH

Can Chinese Stimulus and Geopolitical Tensions Drive a Sustained Rally in the Energy Sector? The energy sector has faced headwinds in 2024, with falling oil prices weighing on performance. However, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and potential economic stimulus from China could breathe new life into the sector as we approach 2025. China, the world’s largest oil importer, plays a pivotal role in global demand. Historical data since Q1 2001 shows a strong correlation between Chinese imports and WTI crude oil prices. If stimulus efforts succeed, we may see increased demand and imports, supporting higher WTI prices. Seeking Alpha’s Quant team has already identified top energy stocks that could benefit in Q4 from these developments. Check them out here: https://lnkd.in/ePujFvWE

📈 Stock picking and fantasy sports have strong parallels.🏈 Blue Chips vs. Blue Bloods ➡️Popular companies vs. Notable teams. Small-caps vs. Large Caps ➡️Underdogs vs. the “Big Dogs” Diversification can help hedge against risk. Data-driven selections can help remove emotions and optimize picks. People often invest in the familiar—like the Magnificent Seven. Sports and investing are vulnerable to emotional biases that can influence portfolio management, and investors must balance short-term and long-term goals. Fundamentally strong investments can take many forms, experience setbacks, and require patience through tough times. Global markets have been deeply impacted by monetary tightening to combat inflation woes, macro, and geopolitical headwinds, so much that the Magnificent Seven have declined on average by nearly 43%. But top stocks, just like assembling a dream team, require research and planning. Quantitative analysis offers an unbiased, data-driven approach, so investors can analyze and understand the risks and characteristics of their potential equity rosters to pinpoint the most attractive and optimal picks.
