Brian Moores rejoined the SM&W team in 2017 after deepening his knowledge and expertise in healthcare technology design. Because of his breadth of knowledge, he is SM&W’s Medical Simulation Practice Area Leader. He has over 20 years of experience with multi-disciplinary design involving telecommunications, networks and audio/video systems, alluding to his broad range of skills in providing solutions to complex healthcare environments. In addition, Brian has extensive audiovisual design and complex project management experience with the integration of medical and clinical data, from both the medical device and healthcare design and construction industries. In recent years, he has specialized in advanced medical/clinical simulation systems designs which include network-based digital media systems for medical, nursing and dental simulation centers. In a short time, Adam has made remarkable strides, moving from an entry-level role to becoming a key collaborator across multiple offices. His strong communication skills—both written and verbal—are exceptional, and his dedication to every task he undertakes is exemplary. He has aided the marketing team to produce thought leadership and has experience planning events like the Lunar New Year Celebration for his office. He also is providing BD support and setting up introductory prospecting calls and meetings for senior leadership. Despite being relatively new to the company, Adam has quickly earned the respect of our Marketing and BD teams across locations. SM&W's DC Office led by Tom Edge is providing acoustical, audiovisual, IT infrastructure, and security services for Georgetown University’s new Public Policy Building. Located at E Street and 2nd Street, this $110 million project will expand the Georgetown Law Center and serve as the centerpiece of a new downtown campus. The 170,000 SF, eleven-story building will include classrooms, academic offices, a 400-seat auditorium, student commons, and dining facilities, bringing McCourt students, faculty, and staff together in one location for the first time since 2013. The classrooms are equipped for flexible and hybrid learning with interactive displays, cameras, and lecture capture. The penthouse convening space features floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of DC landmarks, requiring precise video and camera system design to enhance both in-person and remote experiences. The lower-level 400-seat auditorium includes an audiovisual control room for multimedia and secure VIP events, with a focus on excellent acoustics. A new broadcast studio under design will offer TV production capabilities and fiber connectivity with the auditorium, penthouse, and a large classroom for overflow and public broadcasts. The building’s security integrates access control and video surveillance into the campus system. The atrium and common areas feature a Maya Lin designed lighting and audio installation, with fixtures that adjust color and brightness according to the time of day and weather, complemented by environmental sounds and soothing music from the SM&W designed speaker system. #university #acoustics #av #security #itinfrastructure #highereducation

SM&W’s senior marketing team recently caught up with David Randin, Senior Associate, Acoustics to chat. David is an experienced acoustical consultant and engineer providing services for structural vibration, mechanical systems, and architectural acoustics based in the Pacific Northwest. He specializes in healthcare, commercial, education, recording studios, and concert hall design. His acoustical engineering experience includes acoustical laboratory testing for transmission loss, absorption, and sound power following the ASTM and ISO Standards.
